2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

If you’re a junior I honestly wonder how much likelier it is to get an SGR. I don’t want one :’( cuz the extra wait is too much for me, especially now that i’ve commited to UCI.

@smh101 what classes are you taking this semester?

@aj0927 Im surprised I got an SGR because I’m not taking any classes that fulfill any major pre reqs that transfer (i’m taking calc 1 but USC only accepts my calc 1 if I take another class with it which I wont be doing until the fall).

I’m taking calc 1, a history course that is the 2nd class I need to take to fulfill the writing requirement, and 2 cs classes

@bettycrocker03 Is there any way your college can send the transcripts themselves?

I haven’t received an SGR (hopefully) because my college already sent them my Spring grades immediately upon release.

This admission cycle has been quite grueling, I’ve become numb to the taste or rejection at this point. The whole process is consuming and just wears you out.

I’d be more than thrilled for a Spring 2018 acceptance if it meant not getting rejected.

@smh101 That’s actually very interesting. I’ve never seen such a case. I guess considering I did Physics and Calc 2, DE and Linear Algebra. I reckon I shouldn’t be getting a SGR… Anyways, lucky you!

@AGoodFloridian Yes, I put in a request to have my college send the transcript officially also, but it’s probably going to take a few weeks (Canadian university), so I thought it’d be quicker to send the unofficial transcript screenshot through the portal. Hopefully it’ll be acceptable.
I’ve also been feeling the same way about a Spring 2018 acceptance, I’d gladly take it.

@itslife123 yeah I think you’ll end getting a decision right away instead of an SGR since you’ve completed so much o:

I have a feeling if anything I got the SGR for my second choice major so we’ll see what happens. Thank you! (: you too!

@swaggyb22 @bmannn10 I received it in the mail yesterday. I took about a week to get here because I live in Japan. Portal was updated as well, but I checked the portal after the mail arrived.

@Amaryllis85 Thanks and congrats to you too!

people who got SGR, did you receive it via email, or you just checked your portal and saw it?

Anyone know of good housing options? I just read reviews on yelp for the lorenzo, tuscany, west 27th, and gateway, and they all sound HORRIBLE… I mean completely unbearable and unlivable… I have no clue what I’m going to do if I don’t get on campus housing lol

@Aurora7 I saw it on my portal under the messages link

Well, my financial aid report is finally up. Didn’t get as much as I’d hoped, but don’t let that discourage you if you’re still waiting – I’m going for a second bachelor’s, and I’ve been told that USC’s financial aid offerings for second-bachelor’s applicants tend to be slim.

what’s usc’s easiest majors/schools to apply and get into?

@Aurora7 I just checked my portal yesterday and found it under my application status. I wish they had sent an email, though, since it had been sitting there for almost a week and I had no idea lol

@Amaryllis85 I’m sorry to hear that. Do you have any other sources of potential funding? The Topping Scholarship is still accepting applications, if I’m not mistaken.

So they still give out financial aid reports even if we haven’t been given a decision yet?

@AGoodFloridian Thank you. I’ve applied for a number of scholarships, but I’ll need to take out some loans regardless.

I’m not sure if your question was directed at me. I received my decision in late April.

Got admitted to Marshall today !!!
My heart started pumping the moment I got the notification from USPS

@ihatesatsm I wouldn’t say there’s an easier school to get into, but Dornsife is the least impacted. Viterbi, Marshall, Annenberg…etc… are more impacted. I believe when you get in undeclared you’re automatically put in Dornsife.

@Huytran91 Congratulations! This should be a good sign for all the Marshall Hopefuls!

no tea, all shade. i would never apply to a school and search for the easiest major to get admitted into just to switch majors to a competitive major. that’s says more about how “confident” someone is as an applicant. someone out there wants to actually enroll in the major you’re choosing to apply to as a gateway
