2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@itslife123 like a week and half but I can almost guarantee you’ll hear back next week… they told a bunch of transfers that their aid packages wouldn’t be ready until the 3rd week of May because they hadn’t begun reviewing them yet, but since they’re now focused on transfer aid applications, they’re going to be pushing them out in that 3-5 day timeline

Does anyone else here have Kenley Turville as their counselor? I’m curious as to how quickly she makes admissions decisions.

I got an SGR, but once I submit my grades next week will I receive a decision soon after or do they wait to release SGR applicants in bulk? Also what is the likelyhood I would be admitted for Spring 2018 instead of Fall 2017? I am an incoming sophomore Dornshife applicant if that helps! GPA will be somewhere b/w 3.5-3.6 after this semester at my current four-year Univ. I also have a really good job at a large tech company and play a major role in its growth, I know this doesn’t contribute much but I count it as a good EC. Any feedback helps, thanks guys!

@nvz1997 -_- guuuuurlll!! who can possibly answer those questions other than a counselor?? no tea, no shade.

@katienewsom24 I have her as my counselor. I recieved my decision on the 18th, however I believe it depends what region you are from
@nvz1997 sonce you won’t be able to submit your grades until the end of this month I believe they will respond to you anytime from mid June to July. Since you are a sophomore applicant I would best guess that you might be a spring admit. Lastly as far as I know USC does not consider ecs in admission for transfer students unless you are on the edge

@uscdream19 I saw your comment about how SGR sophomores most likely get in for spring. Is that true? I’ve never seen or heard that anywhere. I was just wondering because I’m in the same situation and am currently waiting for my semester to end then submit my grades. I would so rather go in for fall omg

Dornsife applicant. Have not heard a single thing from USC at all. No SGR, financial aid messages of any kind. Baker Rousseau is my counselor I believe.

Should I be worried? I feel like all Dornsife people have already heard back.

@Drwizardmoose I am literally in the same position as you. Also Dornsife and haven’t heard a peep. I am hanging on by a thread because my stats are good, my essays were good… but I’m losing hope by the minute… but there’s still some time left in May so I’m not losing all hope until I get a rejection letter (which I’m praying doesn’t happen…)

@aileen33445533 being a sophomore applicant definitely doesn’t make u admitted for spring only. If you got an sgr at the end of April/ beginnng of may and submitted your grades like last week you would most likely get a decision by the end of may. However when USC recieves grades back from ppl who don’t get their transcripts until mid June (like me) they may not get your decision back until mid July in which case some people are offereded spring admission depending on how full your relative major is

Congrats to everyone admitted and good luck to those patiently waiting, and checking their mailbox and CC daily. More good news ison the way.

I received my admission package in the mail yesterday! Marshall fall acceptance. I have 50+ units and currently attend Univerity of Michigan. I have a 3.5 gpa, and achieved a 3.7 this past semester. Hopefully this will give hope to those applying with less that perfect GPAs from “peer universities”.

I had received a request for my final high school transcripts in early April and a SGR request in late April. I finished finals super early and sent my winter grades on April 26th (electronically as well as having a hard copy sent directly from U of M) but they were not apparently not logged into the system. I received a final winter grade request Tuesday May 16th, called the admission office to inquire about the missing grades and was assured that they had them and to ignore the SGR. Bottom line is that if you are not sure if your file is complete it pays to check.

Guys, I just received something from the financial aid office about updating my program of study. Do you guys think it is a good sign or not a sign at all? Also, will they give release the decisions electronically at some point rather than mail? I will have no access to my mail for a long time

@mellyjune @Drwizardmoose also a dornslife applicant and not have heard a thing. Some dornslife have gotten theirs while others haven’t and people say there’s still more to come for us but I’m getting more worried as each week passes on :(( what are your majors?

Dornsife applicant, Econ major, haven’t heads anything.

Guys a friend of mine got into Mechanical Engineering for VIterbi (He won’t be attending, so anyone who got SGR’ed will probably get the spot :)) I already feel a huge Viterbi wave coming this week! Meanwhile I’ll be anxiously waiting for Financial aid :’)

@itslife123 congrats dude!

let us know how many days it took for your portal to be updated!

USC: mmmhm, yeah of course you’re going to hear back by June 1st
applicants: wait, what do you mean? by
USC:

How does housing work for transfers? Is it guaranteed, or if not what are the chances we would get on-campus housing?

@UCLAorUCBTRNSFR it’s not guaranteed and there isn’t a very good chance we get it, that I know of. It’s sort of up in the air right now and it fills up very quickly, so the majority of transfers have to stay off campus. They won’t even be getting back to transfers about on campus housing until June

Is there a housing form that I should have filled out as a transfer student? If I can’t get on campus housing, how much does a room typically cost to rent near the university?

I’m currently stuck in SGR purgatory. I’m going to attempt to save up this summer. If I get in but can’t afford to go because I can’t afford housing, that’ll be devastating…

@mkj120 no, you won’t be able to fill anything out for housing until you’re accepted, and rent/bed around campus is about 1k at most places
