To any CS majors in here, I’m looking to minor in computer programming and I was looking at the requirements, the first one is intro to C++, but it can be substituted with either the intro Java or Python class… I’m not sure which would be better to take, or if I should take both java and python instead of intro to C++… anyone have any tips?

@penntousc if intro to c++ can be substituted I would definitely choose java or python. Java is objective oriented programming, so a lot of data processing programs will be written using java and it has a lot of trading software applications. Java will be a useful programming language to learn and be fluent in, especially if you work with big data, for example as a financial analyst. Python is the future of web based programming languages. Most web development takes place by using python. Python is easier to learn and will give you a lot of power in the web developing world. If you had to go with one I would go with java, its applications are super versatile and once you learn java, learning other languages becomes really easy. I took apcs in hs which was basically an intro java class, but just from that languages like swift (for ios development) became so much easier to master.
@Skepta that’s what I thought, I’d rather get good with one than learn bits and pieces of everything and not be able to tie it all together. Thanks!

@penntousc It’s not hard to learn programming but when you get to CSCI 104 and CSCI 170, prepare to face the hardest semester of your life.
Do packages usually come towards the end of the week or do they come at any time during the week?
Has USC started sending out rejections?
@SportsNerd24 I think they come anytime during the week but in my area we don’t receive any mail on Sundays.

Rejections? Welp, time to cut my portal checking habit cold turkey. Can’t get rejected if you never check your portal/mailbox.
