Any international relations majors receive their results?
@chingyangkao I’m Annenberg too, still haven’t heard anything at all. X_X
@petermichio Nice! Reading that was pretty reassuring as I’m in a similar position. I went to university in New York, did okay but not great, nearly failed calculus, went to Chaffey in Rancho Cucamonga where I got a 4.0, and I’m at Pasadena City College this year with a 4.0 (including bus calc). This is my third time applying. Even if I don’t get in, it’s nice to see someone in a similar position get an acceptance. Enjoy it!
@chingyangkao no, Annenberg comm major. I can’t wait to hear back and put this stress behind me!

@CUBUSC I’m in the same boat. Haven’t heard anything so far. When did you apply?
@izrobins I noticed you mentioned attending Cornell, why did you choose to attend a cc afterwards?
@chap97 I applied at the February 1st deadline (literally like 5 minutes before it was due).
@CUBUSC same here, about around 1pm. Don’t know if that has an impact but I feel like they review the applications in the order they get them.
@chap97 Maybe! My timezone is an hour ahead of california so it was technically like 1am here when I submitted (but still before midnight of the due date their time). I’m just frustrated that so many people have already heard back because it feels like our chances are slimming
@Skepta There were a lot of reasons…
I had applied randomly to the School of Art, Architecture, and Planning because I liked their required essay and I had a fee waiver so I figured why not. Cornell was the best school I got into and my parents didn’t give me much say in the matter, so from the start I didn’t feel confident in being there.
Over the course of the year, I realized hat urban planning wasn’t really for me, but I still didn’t know what I wanted to do, and I wasn’t getting any financial aid despite my dad being unemployed for the first half of the year due to a clerical error that the financial aid office refused to help me resolve because my fin aid application was past due (the application was on time; the error was discovered after the deadline had passed). The next year I got pretty generous financial aid, but I received my award a week before my sophomore year was supposed to begin, and so I didn’t have time to set up housing for my second year.
I was pretty depressed throughout the year due to finances, weather, etc and knew that if I stayed there, I wouldn’t be able to study or perform to my fullest potential. Along the same lines, I didn’t like how people frequently joked about throwing themselves over suicide bridge, nor did I like the fact that people were always either talking about how cold it was, how stressed they were, or how wasted they had gotten the weekend prior. I didn’t like how no one seemed to have any school pride. Ultimately, I didn’t find my people at Cornell and figured that my philosophy was so incompatible with Cornell’s that I might never find a group of really close friends. That’s not to say Cornell isn’t a great school. It just takes a particular type of person to enjoy it there.
Lastly, I knew I ultimately wanted to return to CA for work, so I figured I’d come back and study here and then transfer to a local university. So that’s where I am now.
Just wondering for the people who were accepted, when did u guys submit your applications? I know rolling admissions means first come first serve basis, and I wanted to see if USC followed that. I submitted my app on the last day, like an hour before the deadline LOL
@hchung0719 I also submitted my application on the last day around 4 or 5pm. Admission message was dated 5/19.(I applied to Viterbi) so I don’t think they do rolling admissions. I guess it depends on the schools you applied to.
@hchung0719 1/26
i submitted 1/20 still havnt heard back. Kinda have accepted my rejection, being a ca resident atleast next year I can try for UCLA, cal, etc and have a solid chance.
I called admissions months prior and asked if it was a rolling admissions and they said no so
@hchung0719 I applied on the last day. (Guilty as charged :’))
Any SCA applicants who haven’t heard anything yet ://
Soooo I was checking USC Oasis a lot because of the trick last last year. I heard it doesn’t work anymore, so I don’t know if the STARS report matters, but I figured that the restrictions tab will tell me when the last activity for my file is. Last time I checked it (this morning), it says Activity restrictions as of 2/09/17, which was probably when they first viewed my app. I checked again just now and it changed to 5/22/17 as of 12:56 pm! So I guess they are reviewing my file, and if I don’t get a package soon, then I know it’s a rejection.
@jae2017 how did you get login information for oasis? Sorry if this was already established
