@ngujo96 What school did you apply to?
@izrobins keck school of medicine!
I don’t know… I’ve just been kind of laying here, unable to sleep. I’m so stressed out about this. I’m going to cry, I just want my decision already
just got an SGR about a week ago! sophomore dornslife applicant, updated through the portal first and got a letter in the mail the next day
also i haven’t seen many rejections…do the majority of applicants either get an acceptance or SGR??
@moncc44 Oh I wish… but rejections haven’t come out yet, they come out at the very end. I think a few people have gotten rejected but those are generally people who submitted incomplete applications. Rejections will probably come out next week…
@moncc44 I think it also should be pointed out that College Confidential is only a small slice of applicants. It’s very likely that there could have been rejections already. Also, people don’t really seem to post about rejections on here/on the stats thread anyway. I think I was pretty much the only person to post about my rejection in the 2014 transfer stats thread.
I think it is kind of wired because the admission office said that they mailed all decision by Friday, but for rejections will not be mailed way after their portal got updated. Do you think they work differently this year?
Hey guys, I posted earlier on here about financial aid appeals, and I just wanna tell anyone out there who got an unfavorable financial aid package, that to do everything u can to appeal!!! i was definitely skeptical at first because my family didn’t qualify for any of USC’s listed reasons to appeal (change in family income, job loss, high medical expenses etc,) but I appealed, submitted USC’s eventual requested documents (my family’s 2015 medical expenses) and ended up getting $4k more in grants and a loan increase, but basically this $4k grant increase means I will likely only have to take $2k in loans each year so I’m super ecstatic. I hope everyone’s financial situations will somehow permit them to attend their dream schools! Fight on~
@mellyjune @zettasyntax gotcha!
also does anyone know if the admission decision for those who got SGR’s does typically come out mid july like they say or earlier? I already sent in my final transcript through my portal since I got out of school early so mid july seems sooo far away
@pianorite Congrats on the successful aid appeal I tried an appeal myself using medical expenses (I was uninsured and acquired hefty bills from a few emergency room visits), but didn’t have luck. I’d like to chat with this one user from a few years back that said USC offered him such good aid that he only had to pay $300 - he even claimed this was with housing totally covered. Talk about the FA package of a lifetime
I remember somebody from last year as well saying USC covered everything but the cost of a meal plan. Wonder how he pulled that off, lol.
@zettasyntax in previous years were more acceptances/SGRs released by this time? (Compared to this year).
@zettasyntax 2014 my sister applied, didn’t get a sgr but also didn’t get decision notification till June 16th either, even though they also said June 1. She got in for Fall too. I think they say they hope to but like in my sisters case and other people she knew did t hear back either way by June 1. She said her portal was updated and she got a pkg in the mail, but not simultaneously. Here is the USC Transfer admission blog link…
