2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

Marshall just got rejected… How can i submit an appeal

Idk if this is helpful to anyone, as it was on what I assume is the freshman applicant appeal thread from 2016, but maybe there’ll be helpful info. Clearly there’s some freshman specific info, like the dates, but I would assume the rest applies.

"Some general information and instructions.

USC receives about 1,000 appeals every year, with roughly 30-50 decisions being overturned. The appeal decision comes out in mid-May, so USC recommends that you accept admission to another school. If your decision is overturned, they send you further instructions.

The admissions committee is interested in “new and compelling information not included in your original application.”

You can submit your appeal via the YouSC portal, fax it, or deliver it in person to the admissions office. The exact instructions are located on the back of your rejection letter, but in essence they want a 1 page letter with a cover page. No additional letters of recommendation."

i feel sick

Why bother appealing? They didn’t want you so just accept it and move on. It’s not the end of the world. It’s just one school out of thousands.

@jdfinancialsec To each his own

rejected - annenberg comm

portal hasn’t changed… kind of scared

What is the apeal listed under as?? I dont see it under my document library

just sent in my appeal letter (which I pre-wrote about a week ago). nearly 4am eastern time.
eye twitch
(honestly, i was expecting it, but I don’t think I was as fully “prepared” as I thought I was)

@transferk17 It doesn’t mean anything-- it’s just a glitch that many received last year.

@transfer201517 people have been saying that transfers just email their own admissions counselor instead of uploading a letter of appeal like first years do. First years can also fax or drop it off in person, so I’m guessing those are also two options for transfer appeals as well.

after submitting the appeal letter, when are we supposed to hear back?

@mellyjune it’s just a waste of time. They should just move on and go to the schools that did accept them. I’m a USC transfer myself & it’s not as great as everyone makes it out to be anyway.

@mellyjune really?! Thank you, i will call and confirm before i submit anything

@jdfinancialsec Seriously? Some of us worked our asses off to get in. If there’s still a chance of us getting accepted, then we’re going to take it. Even if it’s unlikely, we’re going to try. I’m sorry that your USC experience isn’t going the way you want to but we’re not you.

@jdfinancialsec for some, it can help to get closure and move on. Everyone deals with rejections in different ways. However, congratulations on being on of the lucky few to transfer to USC and I hope it gets better for you.

@ashurikko it wasn’t quite good enough if they rejected you. I just wouldn’t waste my time on a very slim hope they they’ll change their minds-- which is very rare.

@jdfinancialsec for the love of god, if you’re going to be depressing and putting people down, please don’t post. You’ve said before that you don’t like it at USC and we get it, but you haven’t said how exactly it sucks, so why are you still here? Others are already feeling horrible because of the decisions and the waiting; your snide remarks and comments are not helping.

@jdfinancialsec appealing is free and people can choose to spend their time doing whatever they want. does it really matter to you personally if people choose to appeal or not? like it’s tragic that your experience wasn’t what you hoped it would be, but do you really have to be so cynical when people are already down? I’m pretty sure everyone appealing understands that it isn’t a guaranteed shot.

sorry but does the portal look different for rejections vs acceptances? on the site and staring at the portal but too scared to click application status lol
