@penntousc I’m a biology major! After this spring I’ll have around 60 units, and I have a 4.0 (miiiiight get 1B in a chem class this semester, but I’m studying my ass off for the final). I had two really good (I think, PM me if you wanna see them LOL) recommendation letters from my English professor last year and my Biology professor last semester. Essays were…meh to me, because I’m not very good at expressing myself. Uhh I don’t really have any extracurriculars (I play an instrument and have a small part time job), but I’m planning to get some hands on patient experience during the summer at a hospital, so I can put that on the appeal if needed.
@nvz1997 Some people got acceptances/a decision pretty soon after their SGR, so hope for that! SGR’s are basically uncharted territory though LOL
Wait the real question is why is someone who goes attends USC on this transfer thread if you aren’t going to contribute anything other than putting people’s hopes down.
@zettasyntax my message got cut off… but thanks I was hoping I’d get in also since the first time I toured there I felt at home. I took a tour of the law school with my law program and everything felt right. As cliché as it sounds. I really thought I had a shoe in when he asked for my grade for statistics. He was assigned to me because of my primary CC and after reading other transfer threads I was hoping I could contact another regional counselor. I know my W’s and Academic Renewals could hurt my application but overall I thought it was fair game. I hope you end up at Cal for your masters! I went up there a couple at times and felt like a radical the moment I walked thru Bekerley’s gates.
Haha but overall hope I run into Mr. Hall and show him what they missed out on. I’m coming back even harder for my masters :)>-
@Shuisazn oh ok, you have great stats! I too had really no ECs lol, I obviously intend on getting involved on campus though. I’m not sure how they’re going to evaluate you, but I wouldn’t really consider you a sophomore applicant since you’re only going to be 4 units (1 USC class) short of being official junior standing. Most sophomore applicants are in the 30-40 unit range, with super sophomores being anywhere from high 40s to high 50s, but it’s definitely a grey area as to how they evaluate people who fall just below the 64 unit mark. Hopefully you’ll receive an acceptance soon, good luck!
@penntousc approximately how long did it take for you to get your housing assignment? I know that you’re trying to get reassigned, but I was curious.
I feel like there was a overestimation of how full housing was, so I’m hoping for the best.
@usc2563 I applied on the 11th, so 15 days. Luckily it’s a lot sooner than expected, they said they wouldn’t even begin reviewing transfer housing apps until June. The overestimation may work to your advantage though, because I’ve seen a lot of people not even consider on campus housing and go with off campus housing immediately, which should cause there to be a good amount of vacancies!
@penntousc I wonder what happens if you try to request a roommate who already has a room assigned. I’m torn between trying it just for kicks to see if I get automatically assigned to that room too or what, haha.
How exactly does the housing situation work, do you get assigned a random roommate or can you choose if you live on campus?
@ngujo96 after applying you have access to a list of roommates who sort of match your survey and then you can request a roommate, but I’m not sure if they grant every request. If you don’t request I think that you’re randomly matched with a roommate.
hello guys, Im new here. Im a sophomore applicant for Viterbi: computer science/ business administration. I got a SGR, how do i send in my spring grades to them?
And what are the chances of getting admitted if one does well in his/her spring courses?
I’m so sorry to those who have been rejected today. Don’t give up and just keep working hard. It sucks to see all of those 3.7+ GPA students getting rejected cause you would think that having higher than the avg GPA and all the required classes complete would make you a shoe in but I guess it’s a mystery. Regardless, you all seem like very hard working students, and you guys will do well wherever you end up even if it may not be USC
@usc2563 thanks!
Hey guys, I will be sending my spring grade results to USC as requested. If i got A in all my 6 classes then does that mean they will accept me or there can be other factors as well? Thanks,
What’s this mid year grade report that’s in my applicant status area? Did anyone else get that?
I am a sophomore year transfer sca applicant, and haven’t even gotten a sgr. kinda scared, but I applied from the American university of Paris which is a ttp school, and I hit all the ttp requirements aside from the fact that I wasn’t in the program… agh
holy shit. I was just accepted for spring 2018!!!
Hey! I’m not sure if someone said this before but how do we appeal our admission decisions if we get rejected?
@golfgirl101 From previous posts in the thread, some people emailed their counselors directly or attached a word document to them. I’m going to appeal too, I think the reason why I was rejected was because I’m taking two important pre-reqs this semestee, but I have high A’s in. Hopefully they consider, good luck on your appeal!
@helloitsmeeee Congrats!
Sophomore Marshall Applicant with an SGR. Just got accepted for Spring.
I live in the east bay, but my portal updated first.
