2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

How are we supposed to read our stars report? Mostly everything is in red for me

@zettasyntax I’m in a different case. I got credit for CSCI 103 but I don’t want credit for it. Do you think they will let me take it for a grade/take the course? I really think the C++ class at my school is a joke so…

@uscdream19 I think red means you have to complete that at USC

@itslife123 literally almost everything is red except one that is blue. Is it supposed to look like that?

@uscdream19 if everything is in red than either you haven’t completed a single requirement, or your STARS report is incomplete… lol it’s probably the latter, took a little while for all of my stuff to update so just give it some time

People are worried about not getting the credit while I’m worried about getting credit for a class. Smh…

@penntousc I hope so! Everything is there from what I see, I just hoped more of the courses they said would be transferable via there own agreement would count for something.

@zettasyntax That’s my exact problem. The only reason I took the engineering courses at my CC was because UCLA required them. :(( I’m less mad about C++ not counting toward anything than I am regarding the lower division engineering courses not counting at all. (for now, unless something updates). It’s a good thing I’m a hoarder and kept all of my notes, haha.

@uscdream19 Yeah, blue means it’s fulfilled. A lot of seniors posted snaps of them scrolling through their STARS report and everything was blue, lol. So blue = done.

@itslife123 You should definitely be able to take the course, but I’m not sure if they will give you major credit for the course if they already gave you credit. USC’s course did make my CC’s intro C++ course look like it was child’s play. They basically covered that entire course by like the 4th/5th week of class :stuck_out_tongue:

@InTheNightSky95 Please take my credit for C+++, I don’t want it :’(

@zettasyntax Ya I don’t want major credit. I just don’t want to die in CSCI 104 without taking a proper CS course. I’m sure you definitely understand that very well from your experiences.

@itslife123 I’ll take it!!! lmao I’m trying to avoid anything that’s not MATLAB at ALL costs.

@uscdream19 it takes a while probably two or three weeks for them to update your star report. Only four people work at the transfer credit department lol so give them some time.

@itslife123 I get where you’re coming from, I’m pretty pumped that I didn’t take a single business, accounting, or econ course yet, so all of my major-related coursework can be taken at USC! Worst case, you could just retake that class though couldn’t you?

@itslife123 Gosh yeah. I basically failed the midterm in terms of a raw percentage. However, with the curve, that score was rounded to a C+. That should definitely give people an indication of how the exams are no joke. I did surprisingly love the project we did though and even did the extra credit for it, lol. The exams are just yikes.

@penntousc Ya I’m hoping they will let me. I just don’t want them to give me no flexibility as to what I want to do when enrolling for courses. I guess I’ll see at orientation.

@zettasyntax How did you even manage to do CSCI 170 and 104 at the same time. It seems like living hell…

@itslife123 yeah you should be fine, I’m under the impression that they’ll be opening up some spots in classes for transfers too. Not much available as of right now

@itslife123 I took them both in the summer, so it was even more torture. I got a C- in both courses :-\ so if I were part of Viterbi like you, that’s failing/not passing. I feel like I could have done a lot better in CSCI 104 without doing CSCI 170 at the same time. I was ecstatic to finally get an A- in CSCI 368 though, lol. It was like I finally became comfortable with programming.

Anyone know how many Spring Admits they move back for Fall ?

@Warrior106 Very few. I want to say that I saw the number for one year being around 50. However, there are other years where none are said to be moved up. Even then, freshmen spring admits have top priority when it comes to this matter, which makes no sense to me. This is why I don’t like the usc prez lol. He ignored my letter and his daughter didn’t get spring admittance :stuck_out_tongue:
