2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@penntousc the semester system. I go to an out of state CC.

@katienewsom24 some applicants with sgr have heard three days later after sending their spring grades. I remember a Marshall applicant posted that on here

@katienewsom24 if you send in (or at least request) your spring grades tomorrow, I’d predict that you could hear at any time from later this week, up until mid June

@TheBoy6 I mean it’s just best to aim for a 4.0; if you feel like you can’t get an A in a class, try to get A’s in other classes so that it boost your GPA. Even though GE’s might not be related to your major, it still looks good if you have A’s in them because it implies that you care a lot about school/education.

@Vesper7 I’m considering emailing my counselor and asking her if they forgot about me LOL Especially because there’s only two days left–I’m kind of worried if they did actually forget me

@penntousc Wow, thanks man. This is great help. I’ll look into all of this and come back to you if I have any questions. My goal is to be able to transfer there after a year. Do senior grades of high school play into it at all? What were your ec’s and did you transfer to USC from an OOS?

@BusinessBrah Yeah I talked to them and they said they only give out like 80 13k scholarships which is stupid since their endowment is 4.6 billion. I probably cant go there either because of the amount of loans I’d have to take out

@pantafootball2 were you a Marshall applicant?

i think the counselor for de anza is especially bad because even though I easily surpassed the 30 semester units or 45 quarter unit just by the end of my winter quarter, she still asked me to send my SAT scores. I found this odd so I emailed her asking that since I will have way more than 30 sem units by end of spring, if my hs grades will be used for decision. Her response was that since im applying as an incoming sophomore they may be looked at. I feel shes like the only counselor who didnt care about the 30 sem units thing which kinda rekt me :/.

@amartinez94993 I have not received my financial aid statement, so you are not alone.

@TheBoy6 as long as you’ll have 30 or more transferable units completed by the end of the semester, they won’t consider HS grades or SAT scores. I had no extracurriculars, if I were you I wouldn’t even bother focusing on that (unless you’re also applying to other schools, or are simply that interested in a certain EC). Basically, if you were just gonna do ECs to beef up your app for USC, it’s a waste of time because they’ll hardly even be looked at if you keep a high GPA and meet those requirements. And yes, I’m coming from a community college in PA. But yeah dude no problem, I still check this regularly so let me know if you have any more questions!

@Skepta she probably just doing due diligence, because technically there could be an applicant who had the 30+, but they ended up not all being transferable/acceptable so HS grades and SAT scores were required. I’m a little surprised more counselors don’t do that to be honest, not complaining though. I’d be surprised if that’s what got you rejected

@TheBoy6 yes I’m a Marshall applicant currently with a sgr finishing my spring semester. I have business calc in progress so they’re waiting to see my grade in it… in terms of GEs and English I got all As and even did all 8 ge requirements

@penntousc Okay yup, I have to make sure to plan this out well. I guess I won’t focus too much on ec’s then. Do you think there’s other schools worth applying to? What was your gpa and did you contact your conselor before you chose your classes? And other than your gpa was there anything else that played into your app?

@Shuisazn I kind of want to, but then again I don’t want to upset him lol. I really hope we get accepted as we haven’t been rejected at this point.

@TheBoy6 my stats are on this page:

Everyone else (that has posted at least) has their stats on here as well.

Man, after that huge rejection wave this forum took a hit. Depressing and sad. Many great people not admitted.

@TheBoy6 as for other schools… if you’re all in on USC and that’s truly where you want to be, I would recommend making that the only school you apply to this upcoming year. If you don’t happen to get in, then definitely apply to backups your second time around.

@penntousc Wow that’s great man. Congratulations on everything. And yeah I’ll have to think about where else I could apply or just to focus on USC… do you think if I don’t get in I should stay at the same school another year and then apply to more places after my sophomore year?

@TheBoy6 thank you! And yeah, that’s the route I’d take. Unless you’re really not happy with your school and know you want to go somewhere else even if it’s not USC, then make sure you have some other choices. If you’re dead set on USC and don’t mind spending another year at your current school if you were to be rejected, then just focus on USC

Just giving update. My rejection was thrown out. They are honoring the request for spring grades. She didn’t email me back she actually called to apologize profusely about the mistake. Told me to send her my grades once finals are done this week and apologized for the stress it may have caused. Crossing my fingers this mistake may be the key to my admittance. Haha. Another funny thing happened too: I logged back into the portal and the rejection has disappeared like it never happened. I’m still in the running to be Americas next top model …wait. Wrong show.
