2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

I know im not an expert on this, but for anyone still working on their appeal, I would be more than happy to look over it and share some helpful tips I received. Feel free to dm me!

Portal just updated… I got rejected. I was really hoping for a good result. I’ve been accepted a few other places, but I really did pray and hope for USC the very most. I was so, so enthralled with the school and I was very excited about the prospect of attending there, but it looks like I’m not the type of student they were looking for. It would’ve been amazing to have been accepted, and while I’m very disappointed, especially given that it took them over a week after the deadline to get back to me…
I wish things had turned out differently, but all the same… congratulations to everyone that was accepted. I wish you all the very best. It’s not like I expected much differently… given my not so competitive 3.5 GPA… but I harbored hope. I truly, truly did. I saw this coming, I suppose, but it’s upsetting to finally see that decision and read the rejection letter and know you didn’t amount to enough in USC’s eyes. I’ll take my leave from this thread now. Thank you guys, even small words of encouragement were much appreciated along the way.

@Skepta ayyeee congrats!

@Skepta congratulations and welcome to the fam! I knew you had a good chance at successfully appealing.

Also congrats to all the newly admitted students! It goes to show you that you should never give up on your dreams. Remember the pessimistic and negative people on here who tried to discourage others from appealing?

Despite the odds, people are still able to do it. Those who don’t try will never have a second chance so give it a shot.

@Skepta that was fast! How did you find out?

It looks like decisions are coming faster now! Hopefully us SGR hear back really soon. This wait has been ridiculous!

@Skepta congrats! I’m really happy it worked out for you.

Honestly, this should be a big life lesson for you. A lot of people in life are pessimistic and will tell you how difficult things are. Regardless of the odds, you should go full speed ahead and give everything in life what you’ve got. Never let people discourage, and trust me it’ll happen.

Just curious, do USC ever waitlist their transfer applicants even when it’s mid-June already?

I’m looking to appeal my financial aid, how does it exactly work? I found some information on the USC page, but do I email the office with my appeal? Do I write a letter or do I submit documents?

@brownplz they don’t waitlist, only SGR

So how many people haven’t heard back at all yet?

@FightOn14 When you view your fin aid summary, all the way at the bottom is a link called “Required Info & Forms”. There, under Document Library, you will choose “Appeal Concerning Increase in Estimated Cost of Attendance”.

@Skepta CONGRATS! I really hoped you’d get in and you did! Awesome job! :slight_smile:

You actually heard back quickly! May I ask what counselor you had?

@tankle104 I haven’t… I think Viterbi hears later but idk.

@tankle104 I haven’t. I’m Dornsife and dropped off my unofficial transcript last Tuesday. My portal did update yesterday however and it said that they no longer need a SGR.

@eljefe79 so you physically took your transcripts down to USC?

I just had mine electronically sent in. I really hope this gets cleared fast. Tired of waiting lol 6 months of waiting is a lot

Just found out…I’m in!! Incoming soph applicant admitted to fall :slight_smile: Thanks everyone who have been so supportive on this thread, I can’t wait to (hopefully) meet all of you at SC!!

@austlara congrats!

Yay @austlara congrats!

Hey everyone, I just got an email from housing and was assigned to the Village. That was my first choice because it’s so nice and new but I was told that it’s impossible to live there as a transfer. I applied for housing on May 16th, so I’m surprised I got that housing assignment. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to go through with it or not because off campus housing is cheaper, and I don’t have to fork out $1000 a year for parking because the Lorenzo has a shuttle that goes to USC. This will require a lot of thought!
