2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

My portal was just updated. Got ACCEPTED!!! Portal letter is dated June 6, portal updated June 9th, and dropped off my spring transcript May 29th. Good luck all and FIGHT ON!!

For those recently accepted what majors are you?

Does anyone know why USC is still accepting people for fall even though they told spring transfers there isn’t any more space? Kind of tempted to ask my counselor if there’s any way I could be moved up, but from what people have said, it doesn’t seem too possible… :frowning:

Oh my god I’m going insane waiting for financial aid. It’s been two weeks since I got my acceptance.

@Shuisazn they may have set aside certain SGR applicants that they wanted to accept for the fall if the SGR came back good

@itslife123 I got accepted on the 18th of may but didn’t bother applying till may 31. It took about 5-7 days.

@mjstewart1224 I would call the financial aid office and see what’s going on. It shouldn’t take that long. I think the majority of people who got admitted got their FA package like 3-5 days after.

@eljefe79 I uploaded my unofficial transcript 4 days ago but it still appears under required documents, does that mean they never actually received it?

@elokinikole14 Don’t worry. It took about a week for them to change my portal and take it off the required document list. Any longer than 2 weeks I would call.

How long does it take to hear back from our financial aid appeals?

@Skepta I am so so happy for you omg! Congrats! I sent my appeal yesterday. You’ve given me hope

Hey guys. My last final is on June 12th and I won’t receive my final grades until maybe one week later. So does it affect my chances if I send in my appeal late? What if spaces fill up?

Who do I contact to change where they send my mail?

@Skepta Do you mind reading my appeal letter and give me your feedback?

I just signed up for classes at my CC, and am hoping to eventually transfer out in two years (as a junior transfer). I want to go to the Marshall School of Business and I have been doing research like crazy! anyone have any tips? thank you

Hello, guys. I’m an international student who is attending California CC now and will be USC applicant next year. I just wanna ask some questions about USC transferring.

  1. What is the creteria for being requested SGR? I know that some students are not requested it, even if they are working in process in terms of USC requirement on their spring semester…

  2. Were there any students who were rejected from final decision after getting SGR? If you know, can you let me know the example of those people? Do you think how the grade of last semester is important for accepting?

Thank you guys, Fight on

@ShamWowww it’s pretty straight forward. Get straight A’s in every single class. Try to complete all the GE’s, internship, or even join some on campus clubs at your CC. Show them you’re hungry and mean business. Write a killer application and you should be golden. Try to get courses that will transfer over that way you save $$$ at USC. For backup purposes, have a few fall back schools if necessary just in case you are not admitted. Best of luck

Have any SGR people with Kenley Turville as a counselor heard back?

@penntousc I wonder why they were unsatisfied with me then rip

@ShamWowww the best thing you can do is take your GEs and get as close to straight As as you possibly can. Try to only take your general ed classss and also, try to learn about yourself. Think about who you are, what you stand for, what you’d like to accomplish, why USC? (Besides the obvious fact they are a good school, you can talk about certain professors, the student body that not only you can learn a lot from, but how you can help them grow as well etc)

If you really know yourself, your ambition and can articulate it and back it up with great grades, you have a good chance.

Also having some sort of job while going to school speaks about your Time management and how responsible you are. Maybe get involved with something on campus.

Be the best student you can be, know what you stand for and what you want and do things that will make them want to accept you over some other guy. In business it’s called your “competitive edge”, try and get one if possible.

Your GPA, letters of Rec and essay are most important. If you can get those top notch and some other things, you have a great chance.
