@johnleee Usually if you’re missing a lot of GE’s, if you’re missing important pre-reqs to your major, or if your grade in a certain pre-req isn’t that great, you’d get an SGR. A lot of sophomore applicants get SGR’s most likely because of the first two reasons.
And yes, there are people who are rejected after receiving an SGR. I haven’t seen anyone on this thread (I think), but the grades you send in are especially important. Overall, just make sure you complete as many GE’s as possible and maintain as high of a GPA as you can.
@johnleee@Shuisazn I got an SGR for some reason and I’m a junior applicant with all my GEs done. Nothing I took this semester was a GE. Strange, so just expect it in general but what Shuisazn said is right for the most part. I think my situation is an outlier
well to all who got spring grade requests like me. I believe you should be hearing back from them within three weeks of submitting your grades. Also, they’ve said that most can expect to hear back mid-June
@uscdream19 Did you apply to century or is that the only option that they have left?
Did you try applying to any other on-campus housing options?
trying to figure out my chances at housing.
@hopeful-usc2020 you don’t apply to a specific building. You apply and then they place you wherever they have space at this stage in the game. You can select preferences, but again, it’s really wherever they have space.
Everyone on here was super helpful to me so here is info on myself in case it helps anyone out there:
I am transferring in as a sophomore for Fall 2017 as an Economics major (Dornsife college). I was SGR’d early May and received my acceptance on 6/3/2017. My overall GPA was a 3.53 (received a 3.7 in Fall 2016 and 3.35 in Spring 2017). I worked full-time while enrolled in college full-time and completed 32 units by the end of my Freshman year at my previous four-year University. I did not complete Calc but the remaining pre-reqs for Econ I had done.
I recently applied for housing at USC Village and Parkside, but honestly okay with anywhere they put me. Thank you to everyone on here that has been very active and looking forward to seeing you Trojans around campus! #FightOn
@Aishxr at least 4, but I’d recommend trying to get more in if you can. If you’re a business major, don’t take accounting or Econ, focus on GEs (really goes for practically all majors except for Viterbi, they want you to complete your major coursework while at USC). Should also note that intro to psych almost never transfers to USC so if you can take another class for the life science GE, I’d do that
