@sammyanntx I went ahead and asked the admin counselor and was told that everyone who received the fac scholarship has already been notified. Was it a counselor or someone else who told you they were still under review? I hope our counselor is wrong. I’ve seen nothing - no email, notification, etc. This is for my son - he attended I2E in January - computer science.
Maybe he was thinking of the November event @Ouberry They were notified on the 27th. I hope we still have a chance…
Maybe he was confused with the November event? @Ouberry
@Ouberry it was financial aid counselor who told me, I got an email from them last night
"Thank you for asking. We just received an update that the committee reviewing for the Faculty awards are still at work and will likely not have their selections completed by tomorrow March 1st.
We were told that awardees and rejected applicant will be notified."
so since those who attended the January event haven’t got rejections, I think they all still have a chance. At least that is the way I’m taking it.
That’s sounds more connected than the admissions counselor. I’ll keep my fingers crossed but starting to review Plan B (C and D).
okay i emailed my admissions counselor and he said
Thank you for reaching out regarding Invitation to Excellence! The decisions have been mailed out today, and should be arriving to your mailing address sometime next week.
SO ITS VIA MAIL WE’RE ALL WRONG GUYS IT COMES NEXT WEEK WE HAVE A CHANCE
thanks for the info @postAlone, now another few days of frantically checking the mailbox. Best of luck to everyone!!
also, he said that if we DO receive an email, we should be receiving it this afternoon. Otherwise it’s by mail. YOU’RE SO WELCOME GUYS GOOD LUCK SO EXCITED FOR YOU ALL @sammyanntx
I also told my counselor that I’ve been freakin out and checking every five minutes and he said
I am excited that you are so eager in checking that decision, but I would encourage you to hold off until this afternoon. If you do receive any communication it will be closer to 5 this afternoon.
Also, my friend who got the november scholarship for I2E said he randomly got his in gobaylor so check that too!!!
My daughter just got a call from Baylor …but it was just one of those hey how are you doing, do you have any questions calls . Lol
@4kids2collegeca It would be funny to say ‘yes, I have a question! When will find out about the I2E scholarship?’
oh so in the BU 22 gm some girl just said a guy told her that we get an email tomorrow afternoon about it, as one of the departments did not turn in a list of names for the scholarships so they will notify us tomorrow
Hey y’all, this is a PSA with the faculty scholarship. Please know that I just got an email from FinAid confirming that if you get the faculty scholarship that the Provost Gold goes away. It basically means that going to Baylor would cost about the same as going to an in-state uni for any of ya’ll that are waiting with in-state with other offers such and such
I know a lot of you are anxious to hear about the Faculty Scholarship awards, and I don’t mean to deflate your excitement - but during an interview with a financial aid rep during the Nov I2E session when I inquired about the number of Faculty Scholarships, I was told “about 12”. I don’t know if that’s per session or collectively for both sessions. But I do know 300 - 400 students attended the Nov I2E session and even if a dozen Faculty Scholarships are awarded for each session, that presents very low odds of an award. I believe I2E was more of an exclusive event for top students in it’s early years, but it has grown to become more of a marketing event for the university. I would assume most if not all attendees applied for I2E with the lure of a Faculty Scholarship. I was disappointed to hear how few Faculty Scholarships are awarded by a university with a $1B+ endowment. Like many universities, Baylor tends to give many students something in the way of financial aid, but few receive the full-tuition type awards. Unfortunately, the many with something still do not have enough to close the gap of affordability. This is not an attempt to bash Baylor. It’s common with many of the private schools. But some are considerably more generous than others.
We haven’t heard about I2E yet but my son found out yesterday by Email that he also received the FILSA scholarship. for First generation college students.
Every little bit helps!!
They could have changed something, but speaking as a parent with a Freshman who received the Faculty Scholarship, it added onto the Regents Gold to basically make up the difference. Everything – tuition, room, board (whatever plan she chooses), tuition for summer programs + money left over that more than covered books, etc. A very generous scholarship that makes school cheaper than having her live at home.
More is always nicer, but I was just happy that there are still a few good schools that offer 100% merit scholarship for all costs. Almost all schools with much larger endowments don’t give any that cover this much.
Again, i am one year out of date, but for my daughter, the scholarship showed up in her MyBaylor account before we got anything in the mail. It was somewhat confusing, because you have to choose a dorm and a meal plan before those amounts will show in the account, but they do get covered after they are selected. Our total bill every semester is $0, and money gets direct deposited back to my daughter’s account for other expenses.
@NashvilletoTexas what do you mean MyBaylor account? The GoBaylor? And that’s what my friend who received it this year said, too. When did you find out? @NashvilletoTexas
@NashvilletoTexas was your daughter by chance a National Merit Finalist? I know the Faculty stacks with National Merit to cover all expenses. I thought the Faculty Scholarship by itself was just tuition. Still, I would be thrilled for DD to get it!
