2017 Lehigh RD Applicants' Discussion Thread

Does the financial aid add per semester? If I got x money for the fall of 2013 and x money for spring of 2014, does that mean that I got 2x money for the entire year? Or is it just x money over a span of 2 semesters?

it is listed for each semester. Thats how much you will get per semester.

False alarm DS was accepted to Rossin Engineering but NOT IBE. He skimmed the letter which said something like “limited slots prevent us from admitting you to IBE…” He saw “admission” and “IBE” and skimmed over the rest. I got home late last night, went for packet and actually read the letter. Without merit $$, it looks like Lehigh is off the table.

Good luck to all of those who are attending Lehigh! DS’ other first choice (Miami) is calling, with significant merit money, lots of hands-on research in his area of interest, oh, and sunshine and palm trees :)

Congratulations to all who were accepted!

The financial aid piece is indeed frustrating. For our family, we do not get financial aid but certainly are not at all rich and cannot afford full price! Our only hope was obtaining merit money. In the case of Lehigh, we were fortunate back in 2010 to receive the Dean’s scholarship and have also recieved additional merit money as my son has performed at a high level. Without it, we could not have attended. Period.

It is a sad situation, where middle class to upper middle class families are being squeezed out of the private university market.

LINYMOM, I am so glad you have other choices for your son and your family. I am sure he will be very happy in FLA!

Hi. In same position - daughter was accepted but no aid. It’s hard to turn away from all of the other great choices (all with merit aid) she has. She says Lehigh is her number one choice but she won’t be attending. We’re both a little sad. Congratulations to all.

Do you think Lehigh might be able to match a merit offer?

I thought about asking. I’m not sure it’s something I’m comfortable with. I’ve tried researching how this is done. Has anyone been successful with Lehigh? Thank you.

Well, I didn’t expect the financial aid package to be wonderful, but it was much worse that I had imagined. It’s truly a shame, as I was really hoping to go.

In a way, this is actually a good thing for me. Two of the three colleges I was considering gave awful packages, while the third gave a relatively nice one. Now I don’t have to choose!

Congratulations and good luck everyone!

just found out that i got into the IBE program when i received my official packet. figured i didn’t get into it since i didn’t receive the early notification like others did.
SAT: 1970 (M 730, CR 630, W 610)
GPA: 3.9 unweighted
ACT: 30 (would have been like a 32 without the science section – damn it.)
Good to get some good news after being rejected from all my top choices (Tulane, Duke, Vandy, and Cornell)
And got a really good financial aid package.
Guess I’ll have to seriously consider Lehigh now.

@surfhawaii Congratulations! Have you decided on Lehigh then?

I went onto the portal today to see if my aid changed (my family’s income went down while the tuition went up) and I am not able to click on my aid tab at all. Has this happened to other people?

Are you looking at the banner? I was able to access the banner and then click on award

I am. I get to the student services page also. And when I click on “Award Package By Aid Year Academic Year 2013-2014” I get to the page where it has “Award Overview, Terms and Conditions” and such but cannot click on them. I was able to see my award before but after RD came out, I can’t

This is what is said " No award information is available for you at this time, please verify that all necessary and required documents have been received and completed. To view required documents returned to the “Financial Aid” tab on the top of your screen and select “Financial Aid Status”".

This wasn’t there before RD came out because I was able to see my tentative aid that I got as a ED applicant.

Jigar -

I just checked and mine is exactly the same as yours. Maybe they are finalizing our offers? I too just submitted more information (we FINALLY got out tax return done two weeks ago…).

I believe my financial aid and scholarship information was there two days ago but now it’s gone.

checked mine this morning and it also says the same thing now.

We still have not received an acceptance letter or packet! I called the admisssions office and left a message. My kid keeps checking the portal to make sure he didn’t imagine being accepted.

Wow that is really strange. Is your son a transfer student? They haven’t heard back yet. If not, then I’d definitely keep trying to contact admissions because that is not right.

This article ran in local Philly paper. Thought bit shed some light on the decisions.[Making the grade: Inside the college admissions process - Philly.com](<a href=“Inquirer.com: Philadelphia local news, sports, jobs, cars, homes”>Inquirer.com: Philadelphia local news, sports, jobs, cars, homes)

Are you guys going to do a prelusion program? I think im going to do oap!
