2017 Lehigh RD Applicants' Discussion Thread

Did Everyone who applied receive a response, positive or negative?

I applied and have still yet to receive any notification.

I have only been watching here for about two weeks, but have not seen anyone mention not getting a response. It appears they put it on the portal on Friday and that is where people first saw it. My S received acceptance in the mail on Saturday but we live close by. Maybe you will get it in the mail today. People are making status updates of acceptances, rejections and wait list. Good luck!

Did you guys receive a large folder in the mail when you got accepted because for ED1 I only received a small envelope with a letter nothing else and was pretty disappointed.

Did receive an 8 1/2 x 11 folder with letter of acceptance and in the back is financial aid info. This acceptance is to P.C. Rossin College of Engineering.

No scholarship here, but still probably the best fin aid package outside of Rowan…
I’ve got to say, I’m impressed.

Son got in bioengineering. - 4.0 GPA, 2060 SAT, AP’s, SAT II’s, Magnet program, etc.

No scholarship. Surprised and not surprised. Surprised because he was offered good scholarships from comparable schools (according to the rankings) such as RPI & Case Western. Not surprised because the reputation is that scholarships are extremely limited.

EFC too high, even though it’s unrealistic to afford the school w/o some aid/scholarship. It’s too bad because he was very excited when he received the acceptance Friday.

DS received packet today. Accepted to IBE! That wasn’t on the portal and he was not notified ahead. He says there is no scholarship info. So strange. I thought that IBE was super selective. I know Lehigh is not known for merit aid but still. FA info not known as were late with tax info.

DS starting to work on pros and cons list for Lehigh and his other top choice. Other school is way more generous.

Who gets merit scholarships at Lehigh?

I was just about to agree with you on how disappointing the acceptance letters we received were but oddly enough in the mall today was an acceptance folder! I’m guessing you’ll be getting one too :)

Sorry for the double post! Posting from my phone and it was frozen!

Linymom, did you look at the very back inside of the folder? That is were our’s had a spot for “Financial Aid” in an envelop. No scholarship in ours, that I can see so far, and we were late with our info. It is disappointing as other schools offered nice packages. Now tough decisions to be made…

can you sign in the portal and see? we are out and will not see mail for another week? most school post there…

LINYMOM -

I contacted my admissions office a while ago and asked about scholarships. What she told me is that only 7% of the accepted students (so less than 2% of applicants) receive any form of merit aid. There are just several half and full tuition scholarships (reserved for God knows who) and a few $10,000 scholarships. I was very fortunate to receive the community service scholarship which I believe is about $5,000 per year. It says that in order to continue receiving it each year I will need to continue doing community service at Lehigh.

grr…looks like I’m stuck paying full tuition.

Lehigh2017

I received my folder today also! But I did not have any Financial Aid information in the folder at all even though I received it with my acceptance letter in December.

Jigar -

I didn’t get a financial aid paper either. They probably just didn’t really have a need to send us another.

Jelloymonkey -

That really sucks! No grant at all? Are you still going to enroll?

Dunno. Probably can technically afford it, question is whether or not its worth it.

I’m down to Lehigh and my state flagship. Lehigh’s a far favorite. But tuition is two times the flagship’s.

Do whatever feels right. I’m sure you know that though. I’m going to be taking out a huge amount of money in loans but that is the case at all of the schools I applied to, so I understand what you’re going through - it’s a tough decision to make.

What other schools are people deciding between? For me, it’s Lehigh and CMU…no clue which one I should choose :/

Lehigh2017

I already accepted the aid they gave me in December but since then, my parent’s financial situation changed so I’m waiting for the aid change. I haven’t heard anything from them about it though.
