2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

I am extremely impressed with USC since my offer of admission. They are a well oiled machine. Every person I speak to in admissions or financial aid is knowledgeable and pleasant. I think I screamed when I was able to see myUSC and see my email. I’m so happy to be leaving community college and rudeness lol.

I’m shocked to see all these issues with fin aid. You all have got to be independent! My estimated cost were $74K. They have given me scholarship and grants for $65k. They allocated $6,000 in that estimate for a dining plan for a year. Jokes on them because I’m not getting that. I’m basically fully funded for the next two years. USC is incredible!

Is anyone going to orientation on 7/11?

@sunnydramatic I was going to apply for housing and she said I would most likely get graduate housing too. But then I realized I need housing for 12 months and I found a private room and bath in a house for students for 980 a month. Way cheaper than what they budgeted for housing on campus and for only 9 months. So I’m not submitting the app anymore. R u in a single or sharing with someone?

Got an SRG,
3.8 this last semester, 4 A’s and one B in Calculus.
over all 3.667,
I sent in my transcript May 26
What the deal with housing? Can I apply now?
Also when are SGR decisions out? / My chances? I am super nervous

@jasonspyres The June 1 deadline only applies to people who have not heard back at all. If you’ve received an SGR, then you might have to wait till the middle of July.

Got my housing assignment just a couple of hours ago. 1B/3P at Troy hall apartments. Not what I listed/wanted, but grateful that I just got housing.

@armadaswim if you don’t mind me asking, when did you apply?

@usctransfer2018 I got my housing assignment as well but I was assigned graduate housing AND I’m not with the roommates I selected???

Does anyone know what to do if you didn’t get housing with your selected roommates and how that all works???

All room mates had to list the exact choice and the exact configurations in the same order to have a shot at being put together. Even then, unlike freshman or returning sophomores, transfers are filling holes that exist in housing by virtue of applying so much later than everyone else. The thought there are entire units or even a couple spots in the same bedroom that are available at this time is not that probable.

If you get housing at all, you should be thrilled.

I emailed them stating my grades were in, and should i sent a copy of my transcripts. I got an email back saying that that would be a good idea. Does that count as a spring grades request? I have never been askedfor anything through the portal @Vincent1997

@jasonspyres No, a SGR is a formal request from admissions for your spring-term grades. i.e., I have a message on my portal which contains the same letter they sent me in the mail asking for grades. You should hear back by tomorrow, be it a formal SGR, an acceptance, or rejection.

@yvevy98 April 28

can we all agree that the worse thing about USC is their housing??

What do other schools offer junior transfers, or sophomores for that matter? Does UCLA and UCB have housing for transfers? Just curious.

And believe me, the fact any transfers are getting housing is an upgrade.

I also got into Troy Hall, graduate housing. 1 Bedroom, 3 people. Roommates already selected. Hopefully I can change that so that I can room with other transfers

@goodBrujo9 how’d you find that room? Is there like a Facebook page or a website? I applied for housing on May 4th, and if I get paired with 3 people to share a room I’m not going to be happy lol

@goodBrujo9 I’d be sharing a room with 2 other people. I’m not much of a fan of that, but the room is really cheap compared to other housing options. Only $615/mo. I’m not too sure right now, but I guess I’m glad that I now have guaranteed on-campus housing

Anyone who applied for housing on May 24th or later and has gotten a housing assignment? I didn’t know that you could apply for housing even without being accepted :’(

@CADREAMIN I don’t know about UCB, but UCLA and UCSD have designated transfer housing

^^^That’s good to know, thanks they should since they are the pathway for the CA CC kids.
