2019-2020 USC Transfer

I’m a Marshall applicant I hope I get in.

I didn’t receive a SGR, does that mean I’ll hear back earlier???

@mapofthesoul ah nice! I applied for the BA program for art with a concentration on sculpture, and hoping to take some liberal arts directed classes for linguistics too. best of luck to you, stay in touch!

Hey guys I’m happy for everyone who got admissions! For my situation I have couple of W’s but a good upward trend I started out taking total of 1 class each semester a while ago but I have gotten a upward trend and have bumped up my gpa to a 3.8 from a 3.0 I’m a business admin major and I have done well with Econ and accounting courses but I am taking business calculus right now. I have 70 units completed and I’m taking 12 right now. I also have a back up major with intelligence and cyber operations What do you guys think?

@katyamzz what were your stats and units and congrats!!! I’m so happy for you.

what are the odds usc will do a second wave today? at this point idec if I get rejected I just want an answer, it’s also made worse by the fact that im visiting my friend at usc for the weekend lollll

The decisions are truly random at times. I heard back June 12th for fall acceptance. Most transfers will find out in June going into July, as they are still dealing with freshman students in admissions. Be patient! I know how hard it is to wait!! Let me know if you have any questions for a current USC student (:

@Tuttwirl hi! is it bad if I had a grade change last minute and I haven’t received a decision yet? Im a in state cc student - freshman with 3.735 gpa with 44 credits, 23 ip units - reason was professor misguided my grade in a 5 unit class

@Tuttwirl I haven’t gotten a SGR and I have 70 credits and I’m taking 12 and I am a junior applicant started college in 2016 I gotten good grades with my Econ and accounting courses and I have a great upward trend cause I had like a 2.9 cumulative now I have bumped it up to a 3.8. I also have a back up major in Dornsife but what will happen you think? I’m happy for everyone else for the couple of people who got admitted yesterday but I’m just confused with my situation cause some people have gotten SGRS already. I am taking my last pre req for math also for the Marshall school.

I would email my admissions advisor with that. It could factor into your application, especially since your gpa is the average transfer gpa. What year are you? @heyigotnoclue I was a sophomore transfer, and heard back in June. I found that everyone is different and it also depends on major!!

@Tuttwirl freshman going in as sophomore - ik 3.735 is low ;-; freaking out and my only saving part are my two jobs in the field - im applying Marshall

@UCSAAA What year are you? Junior transfer? They really like an upward trend, so thats good. Do you have the GE requirement filled up? You need to complete your final two here (any of the 8 GEs) I wouldnt stress (which is hard because last year I checked CC EVERY DAY!!) It’s only May, and most of the decisions have not come out. I would expect to find out in June, and if you get a decision sooner then you are lucky!!

Congratulations to everyone who got in. Are there any TTPers who got accepted in yesterday’s wave. Seems like most TTP kids are still in waiting mode. Is this unusual? Wonder if the scandal has got anything to do with it.

@heyigotnoclue 3.735 is not low! Recommendations and experience can be the deciding factor. Do you have a second choice outside of Marshall?

@Tuttwirl ;-; I don’t remember… is there a way that I can check? is it on my common app? sorry - bad memory

@Tuttwirl ya I’m a junior applicant I started college in 2016 and took total of 4 classes with 1 each semester but after that I have really gotten good and have gotten 18 A’s in a row and bumped my gpa to a 3.8 cumulative from a 2.9 cumulative. I got 3-4 letter of recommendation also. I’m only worried cause some people got SGR but I haven’t and I’m taking math. Yes I have the GE filled out and I got other electives also. I will have about 82 credits done after this semester. I do have 4 W’s when I started out college I got 2 than in spring 2018 I went to 2 colleges and took the canes classes sk I dropped macro Econ than took it in the other school got an A but had to drop micro than I took micro in the fall and received an A

@Tuttwirl — ROFL ok I just checked and I signed up for dornslife - international relations in the global program

@heyigotnoclue No worries. I was originally accepted as an IR major! Dont stress too much!!

If I was accepted to USC (for different major) out of highschool and chose to attend somewhere else but am now applying CS at Viterbi do you think my chances are lowered?

@USCAAA You’re a nontraditional student with youre college path. They take that into account. If any of this helps, my roommate last semester was a junior accepted student from a UC with a 3.2 GPA (she was a legacy but still) So anything is possible with admission.
