lol that’s me
honestly i applied to dornsife and im going to assume that if ive heard nothing by mid next week I got rejected so I can plan my summer because I don’t have time to wait around for them to trickle out decisions. yes they said may 31st latest but my close friend legit heard back a month ago tomorrow and like I really think if I was going to get in I would have heard something by now
So I got the SGR today and also I received a email rn from them about the SGR.
@maheralsakkaf I seriously believe they use some sort of stack system, which sucks for a lot of people. My example being that the second time I applied, my counselor contacted me on May 8th asking about my GED. I may be making assumptions, but why wait so long before bringing up such a crucial document? My guess is that my admissions counselor just barely got around to checking out my application. People say they don’t even really start looking at transfer apps until April once they’ve finished all the freshman decisions (which makes sense). So it probably is the case that they just haven’t gotten around to many of your applications yet; not that you’re a “weaker” applicant or anything.
lol still nothing for me too. Honestly, I know 4.0s do get rejected, but I’ll be real salty if I get rejected with a 4.0. liKE WHAT else do you want me to do. I just don’t wanna have to go through applying for the third time ugh.
just out of curiosity, who get offered a TTP? I always thought it was legacy only but I’ve been hearing non-legacies being offered TTP
Relatable complaining time!! I went to community college because it is what i could afford. It honestly makes me annoyed how last priority we are to these universities. Transfer students statistically end up doing better in Universities because we are so greatful and because we know what we want by the time we get there. We get the worst scholarships (even though we probably need them the most), we have no priority for housing, we are notified extremelt late in the year after giving deposits to schools, and we only get two years to really get the fruits out of the basket of these universities. Its just frustrating always being last priority when i work just as hard as any other student to recieve an education. Rant over.
This is a private university, an education at USC is close to 300K, which many people work hard to pay for. They have no obligation to serve the transfer community, that is up to the public system, many private universities don’t accept transfer students at all. There are plenty of folks that don’t think USC should either. They aren’t fans of resources going to transfer students at all and whether they are prepared coming from an easier cc background. There use to be a lot of discussion on this a few years ago when Nikias opened the gates. The feeling is that the 4 year students don’t get aid, housing and other resources because it is given to transfers and the 4 years should be priority.
So both sides have a complaints, life ain’t fair, and no one is entitled to a three hundred thousand dollar education. It has to be earned one way or another. Hopefully those that get accepted appreciate their education wherever it is. Not everyone has this luxury.
Do we have any facebook or ig page for newly admitted transfer students?
Nothing for me I haven’t gotten any sgr or wgr my school is semester so I’m take 17 units this semester. I’ve sent my transcripts but my last semester ends in June. And I’m a dornsife applicant
@blueskies2day I get what you’re saying but state/public colleges and universities don’t devote much to transfers either. I got denied from both the UC’s I applied to and there are others in the same boat. I can’t even apply to CalStates because they’re impacted for transfers. It just feels like we’re being punished for taking a different route of education/getting ahead.
I understand and agree, the complaint should be with state/public universities then, because it is their responsibility to serve the transfer community. USC has to think about this going forward as recent figures are impacting quality for everyone.
Did anyone get an SGR today?
Really thought we would get some decisions today. I would like to think that Marshall and Dornsife have one more acceptance wave or two. Judging from last year’s thread there were a good amount of people who were accepted towards the end of May. So lets keep our hopes up
@poolsideconvo78 Maybe another wave tomorrow. We will see.
@chlduwls wow thats insane that you have not heard yet considering you have a 4.0. I highly suspect that you’ll get in and please let us know when you do!
Maybe they’re enjoying graduation festivities. I remember seeing my admissions counselor from the year I got rejected just casually hanging out around Tommy Trojan as I was making my way to GFS for the linguistics graduation reception.
@zettasyntax Check portal everyday and I am still waiting man.
I have just heard that my close friend got into Georgetown today (transferred from a top 60, 4-year university). This makes me more anxious about USC’s decision.
If I do not get in, I have to choose between Pepperdine and UCSD. I do not want to make that choice.
I hope that the good news will come soon!
@zettasyntax I’m still waiting too. RIP Marshall Applicant
@GoodAfternoonSir We should be fine. Only the first wave came out for Marshall on May 1st.
Marshall has several big waves.
