God willing, decisions will come out this Friday
@FlashyT I’ve had many experiences throughout my life mate. I’ve been trapped in a third world country for 3 years with no education and come back by chance only to have your family taken away by you and having to struggle in high school not knowing what 2 times 2 is because I couldn’t learn basic math after skipping 5th, 6th, and 7th grade due to my “unique” circumstances. I’m just scratching the surface and I’ve had to deal with many tribulations throughout my life that I’m very proud to overcome. No class can teach me the lessons I’ve learned about life in general.
By the way, 2 of my 10 classes are 8-week classes, the rest of the regular 16-week classes. Also, I had no intention of getting out early. I have 99 units after this semester and will be getting out in the usual 2 years. I had 70 units already before spring semester started.
When you see people who would give their left foot to have the opportunity to receive any education in general, that’s what I call a serious reality check. I mean, there are people around the world who don’t have the luxuries we have and it saddens me to think we don’t appreciate what we already have here. With that being said, I want to take advantage of every opportunity offered here and I now have a genuine interest in learning about everything really.
I’ve made sure I’ve communicated who I am and the circumstances I’ve faced and overcome to the best of my ability in my application. You or anyone else cannot say otherwise because you haven’t seen my application, to begin with.
Anyway, it’s up to them to decide if I’m a worthy candidate to attend their institution. Whether I get in or not, I am proud to have gone as far as I have now, and will continue to succeed in my academic and personal goals with faith on my side.
We getting decisions today?
@poolsideconvo78 Maybe. I will check again when it comes to 5pm.
@poolsideconvo78 None of us are sure. Basically, it’s a wait until 5pm every day and see if any come out. Hopefully tho
@HeyItsNick By the way, I am curious that if it is true that USC always update the portal at 5pm?
We see that on May 1st when the first small wave of decisions was released at 5pm. This might make sense because USC admission office closes after 5pm so the admission office makes sure that they release the decision before they leave.

@sagaciousforever I have no idea. I think we all just assume that. It makes it less stressful for me haha
@sagaciousforever I just looked through a few pages of last years thread and decisions came at various times. Some people found out in the evening and some at 10:30am ish. I know that my appeal acceptance was sent at 12am last year but that was a unique case so I doubt that time would be common for everybody else.
So far this year, however, there have only been 5pm for non TTP students.
Nothing for me. Maybe tomorrow
@HeyItsNick I see and thanks! They could come out anytime then.
Nothing for me as well.
The waiting is crazily long and may the trojan be with everyone who is anxiously waiting here for a decision.
Anyone think its possible for them to release the rest of the decisions on May 31st?
Nothing here
nothing for me either, we live to see another day hahahah
In the past they have liked the 16th. Here’s hoping.
Received an SGR today!
Nothing for me either.
@sagaciousforever I don’t really know, unfortunately. In my case, I received my acceptance packet first, so I didn’t really pay attention to when my portal updated. When I got my rejection the year before, I noticed my portal updated with a rejection pdf after midnight. Maybe they like to update at 5PM this year, but I wouldn’t say it’s fair to rule out updates at other times.
@GoodAfternoonSir I think taking so many units, you would have awesome time management skills - I don’t see how else you’d manage such a heavy course load. That’s certainly going to come in handy.
I wouldn’t necessarily say that community college classes are easier (math is still math; science is still science), I just found it a lot easier to get good grades in CC. One reason being that it’s a lot easier to stand out. It’s clear to see which students are actually making an effort and which are just slacking off. This isn’t really the case at USC. It’s very likely you were a superstar CC, but are more average at USC. For instance, I took a Java class in CC and I performed so well on exams that it was somewhat ridiculous. I clearly recall an exam where I scored something like 150/100. I even had to ask the professor if she made a mistake, but nope. I managed to not only ace the exam, she decided to tack on an insane amount of extra credit. That’s something that doesn’t really happen at USC. Extra credit doesn’t really come around often. Many a syllabi will even explicitly state that there are no opportunities for extra credit. It certainly depends on the school/major, but some classes are quite difficult. I remember a CS class where 50% on the midterm somehow curved to a C+ grade. I also remember some crazy linguistics classes (I was a comp ling major). In one class, the midterm was so difficult that no student finished it in the allotted time. We all thought we were going to fail, lol. I had never seen a midterm/exam where nobody finished. In the same class, the final was just as crazy. Once again, the majority of students did not finish - only 1 managed to finish on time. The professor was nice enough to give us extra time, but we had to move rooms. This was another crazy experience for me. I’ve never heard of a final going over the time limit and swapping rooms! In CS courses, some instructors would say pencils down or you’ll fail the final if you’re still writing when the time is up. To add just one more course, I remember a linguistics GE that also counted toward my major. One of the midterms had a section on matlab programming and the professor had to implement a curve because most of the class did so poorly. It was out of 10 points and the average was something like 2/10. I for one didn’t want there to be a curve because I got about 9.5/10, haha. That was one of the most difficult things for me to realize when I transferred to USC. At least in my major, I found out that I was just ordinary. I went from getting mostly A’s to getting B’s and even C’s here and there. I did eventually get into the groove of things, but I was almost set to graduate by the time this happened. That was probably more than you wanted to hear, but yeah, you’ll very likely be challenged at USC
@zettasyntax Thanks for the feedback man! It really helps!
