2019-2020 USC Transfer

@FlashyT Ngl I’m happy that I got a SGR but that’s probably because I’m a sophomore applicant lol. I knew I wouldn’t get an acceptance right away since I’ve only done 1 semester. So it was either a SGR or rejection in my situation.

@GotYa55 there have been numerous sophomore applicants who have received acceptances already… so its not necessarily a good thing you got an SGR

@whereto2022 I noticed most of the sophomores who received an acceptance were TTP students. There was definitely some cases where non TTP sophomores got in but they probably had more units done than me. I only had 14 units by the time I applied so there’s no way I would get an acceptance with that even if I had a 4.0. I’m also taking the required English course rn so that’s probably why I got the SGR. I had three friends last year who were in the same situation as me and got SGR and got in for spring admission. I know getting a SGR is neither good or bad but I’d rather get that than get rejected. I’m also hoping to get spring admission rather than fall. I personally don’t mind the waiting. I just preoccupy myself with other things so I don’t think about usc.

@poolsideconvo78 Is it a for sure C or possible B? Is there a risk of a D?

It’s also worth noting that not everyone who gets accepted into usc will attend. There’s going to be some who got into better schools and some who just can’t afford it. This will probably open up some room for the SGR kids. Just my thought though.

@GoodAfternoonSir @daniiellesara That is my counsellor, too. What should we do now?

@daniiellesara Now I emailed Maria Rodriguez, the counselor who’s responsible for Davis since that’s the place closest to Sacramento if I’m correct.

I really have some new compelling information I want them to see so that’s why I emailed Christine in the first place. When I discovered she’s MIA, I emailed Maria Rodriguez instead.

Should I email the admission director about this? You were advised to contact him yourself so should I do it?

@GoodAfternoonSir @pesona They gave me the name of the admission director for China, the Middle East and Africa…First, I’m from New Jersey so I’m not really sure why they referred me to him but they must have a reason for it. His name is Kevin Hostetler. He hasn’t answered yet, but I’m hoping he does soon.
Do you think this is going to effect our decisions? I would email with Christine pretty often in April and I was really confident in my relationship with her.

@daniiellesara No, prior contact/relationships with counselors don’t affect your decision.

@daniiellesara First and Foremost, I’m from New Jersey too! I moved to Cali when I was 8 years old

I feel like providing new info can only benefit you as long as you don’t pester them all the time I think. I might email Kevin in 4 days if I don’t get a response from Maria or a decision yet.

Christine never responded to my emails :frowning: LOL

@FemmeFilmFatale I wasn’t referring to necessarily having contact with them, more in the aspect of losing your admission counselor and whether that will effect when you hear about your decision? It doesn’t seem like they have plans to reassign us anytime soon

@daniiellesara Ohhh, I getcha. I don’t think so. I think it more depends on when the school itself (whether that’s USC or each individual school themselves, I don’t know) wants to release them. I personally haven’t had any contact with my counselor. I called him in regards to an articulation agreement but never heard back. I don’t think they really play a role in the admissions process. But, I’m with you. If no one get’s any sort of decision today, I’m going to be worried, lol.

@GoodAfternoonSir woohoo go jersey! I haven’t seen many other jersey people on this thread lol I’ll let you know if he responds to me in the meantime

@FemmeFilmFatale Wait why are you worried if we don’t get a decision today? Is it because of a previous post that said that USC likes to release decisions on the 16th? I think @CADREAMIN said that I don’t remember exactly

@FemmeFilmFatale Same!!! I was holding out as long as a could before I SIR’d to other schools but at this point I feel like I should be preparing for the worst. I SIR’d to UNC-CH last night but I’m going to withdraw from there if I get into USC.

@GoodAfternoonSir I’m worried that we won’t hear till day of deadline or ever later. I know there’s still a week before that but it’s getting concerning. I’d like to be wrong though!

@daniiellesara USC is my only choice at this point. I got denied everywhere else. ? I just hope we get an answer soon so I can figure out something else, need-be.

@HeyItsNick It is most likely a C. Very slim chance for a B. I did get an SGR so I am worried

Did any other Marshall applicants get an SGR?

@FemmeFilmFatale Aw man I’m really sorry :frowning: I had 3 top schools 2 that I was really content on going to. My heart is set on USC but I was rejected from the other 2 so this is pretty much my last hope with that. UNC was kind of safety for me.
