@sydolay There should be a link to the official USC 2019 Transfer Admits group on FB in your applicant portal shortly after you open your decision!
That’s highly possible
@bbbbbbbbbenz I feel you on leaving the east coast. I moved out west 4 years ago and have never looked back. Vegas was just a stepping stone to get to California since Vegas is cheap lol.
My Stats:
From a ccc
Major: Marshall
GPA: 4.00
Prereqs: Done
GE: All will be done this spring
EC: Some decent stuff maybe. Its mostly some random stuff, nothing eye popping IMO
Essays: Strong
Legacy Status: Yes (Mom graduated)
Interesting: Had 4 Ws in one semester and was the one thing that kinda worried me about being accepted. But this was early in my college career. Explained it.
Accepted: USC, UCLA, UCI, UCSB
Denied: UCB. (■■■■■■ Haas man lol)
USC is my #1 choice. I hope the FA package comes in clutch because I really want to attend.
@maheralsakkaf I was admitted on May 17th for Political Science! A couple others have found out as well!
@TheGoldenBoy I kind of agree on the whole “nothing eye popping thing.” I’m not sure what qualifies “amazing/unique” only because it seems like everything has been done already. But congratulations on your well deserved acceptance!
@UniCoIn THANK YOU! I am happy someone else wanted to stand up for the CC students and professors. I found that comment rude and makes CC seem easy with the comment of “where classes are harder than CC”.
@sagaciousforever I have been on an upward trend, been studying at CC for a few years and working full-time in Emergency Medicine finding my place in academia. USC shouldn’t take into account the hypothetical difficulty of a course based on it being at a four-year university versus a CC since, as we have all experienced, some professors are easier graders than other professors that teach the same exact subject at the same college. Just wanted to voice my opinion for my fellow CC applicants since our courses cannot, and should not, be generalized to be easier than those courses you have taken at a four-year university.
P.S. To add onto what @UniColn stated, multiple of my professors (both past and present) are professors at Stanford University, UCLA, and U.C. Berkeley. They teach the same materials to the CC students as they do to the University students.
@McDrew123 YES. We cc students really do need to stick up for fellow CC students and professors. If anything, we need to work harder than students at four year universities to prove to transfer institutions that “hey we deserve to be there” and this is why. Lol this is actually what I wrote one of my responses on. Haha and it worked!
@UniCoIn @McDrew123 I am so sorry that I possibly offended CC applicants! I did not mean it.
I will take back my words and assumption that classes in CC are easier, as I only took one class in CC during the summer before entering my freshman year college.
@McDrew123 No offense but the curve at CC is probably more lenient because the lack of competition compared to a top 50 university. It also depends on what class though so I might be wrong.
Even if a class is taught by the same professor and the same material, the average score will be curved upwards a lot if a number of CC students are struggling or simply don’t care (that’s what I have heard and I am not sure if it’s true. I only took one class at CC).
In a top 50 university, since the average score is usually higher, its curve is much more less, making it harder to get high grades (A and A-).
Still, you guys are all top students and deserve to be admitted!
We are all equal here and I apologize for saying that classes in CC are easier. Sorry again.
@maheralsakkaf I was admitted for political science on May 1st. That wave was pretty small though, so I felt super grateful to have gotten in when I did!
@sagaciousforever Excuse you. There are many extremely capable students that attend cc because of financial constraints. And to say that “many cc students simply don’t care” is far from the truth. Yes, many cc students struggle. It’s because many of them are either returning to school or don’t have the same educational background as other students. Don’t assume. Don’t underestimate us.
@Becausethety There is no cc quota at USC. It’s a private university, not a UC. Actually there have been several admits from 4 years already.
@sagaciousforever I must say, I truly enjoy how you wrote “No offense” but then proceeded to offend CC students stating that the “curve at CC is probably more lenient”. None of my CC courses have been curved, not a single one. That includes exams. We work our a**es off for the grades we get, we are not bums that are “struggling or simply don’t care”. Being professional, I recommend you obtain more hard evidence to back up your claims about the easier curves in CC courses and how our courses are easier than yours at a “top 50 university”. One class at CC doesn’t seem to qualify as enough evidence to make your extreme claims.
I know that many students attend CC for financial reasons and I never looked down to them. Sorry that I possibly offended you.
I am just saying that I think it’s easier to get a high GPA in CC (didn’t say that classes are easier in CC) but I never doubt CC students’ capabilities.
@McDrew123 You guys worked really hard for a high GPA. I will do more research before making such extreme assumptions. I am sorry (for real).
With a high GPA, wherever your current school is, everyone is qualified for USC admission consideration.
@sagaciousforever The most important portion of your statement was “I think.” This makes it subjective.
You are not in a position to say it is easier to get a high gpa in CC. Your one class does not warrant “it’s easier to get a high GPA in CC.” Some classes are easier than others! Some professors are easier than others! And these apply to both four year universities and CC.
@blueskies2day Wow, I had no idea it was that rare not to hear by the deadline. No wonder some people on here didn’t believe me when I mentioned it. I was pretty pessimistic about the situation. I assumed USC had rejected me and just forgot to tell me. I did give them two full business days before I called, but maybe I should have called them right away. I did receive my decision very shortly after calling in to complain. The worker that I spoke with (probably a student) said it was totally normal that I hadn’t heard anything yet. Maybe some type of canned response they just use for everybody that calls or perhaps she misinterpreted my situation and thought I had been SGR’d. Anyway, I wouldn’t wish what happened to me on any of you guys.
@Becausethety This seems like it might be the year to try and appeal. @CADREAMIN definitely knows a bit more than me, but I saw her mention in the freshmen appeals thread that it appears more than usual have been successful. If you were rejected, I can see your spring grades being an okay reason for appeal. I tried to appeal when I was rejected, but I didn’t really have a convincing reason. They already had my spring grades. I’m honestly not even sure what I put down, but I know that it was a longgg wait. I didn’t find out until early in August. And it was just an email saying “our original decision stands”. Some say you might be wasting your time with an appeal, but maybe it gives some people peace of mind to know they at least tried.
Can someone please give me some insight? I’m the person who got a WGR several weeks ago on the 15th. Late. I know. I turned it in that very night with a screenshot of my grades. I saw many times on this forum that they accept this as an unofficial transcript. It says that they received those files BUT it still says “Awaiting WGR”. I called today and the person on the phone saw the files there. Fine, cool. My admissions counselor Angelica Gutierrez is gone so I can’t get any help from that end. I got an email from USC today that they haven’t gotten my transcript. I am so utterly annoyed.
Hey and I’ve been attending CC for 5 years since freshman year of high school and none of my classes maybe 2 were ever curved and the curve was never even that much because everyone always scored higher. So ya
