2019-2020 USC Transfer

@daniiellesara Mine was Christine, too. Did you call to ask for a counselor?

@zettasyntax When I got my rejection notification on the admission portal, I did not see an option to appeal. They also said if I tried to apply again next year it would be highly unlikely they would change their decision. At this rate, the only way I see myself getting in is for my masters.

@StipendAwarded There is no formal appeal process for transfers, so it makes sense that they wouldn’t mention and/or advertise that you can appeal. I was rejected around June 27th, 2014 and I was still able to send in an appeal afterwards. I’d agree that your odds might be slightly better as a graduate applicant.

@pesona yeah I did! I called a few weeks ago when I noticed she wasn’t answering and not on the website anymore. They were really helpful. The guy they sent me to is really nice but he takes a bit to answer

@zettasyntax was ur B in a major related requirement? or a GE?

@zettasyntax I called the Admission Office today, and they told me that my rejection was a mistake and restored my SGR. Thanks for the advice! Hopefully, I won’t be rejected twice LOL.

@Steamedz wait when you called what did you say?

My son’s SGR has disappeared from his page now that his decision is in, so maybe that is a sign. I hope you hear soon! We know how agonizing this wait is.

@Steamedz That’s insane. I would admit you after making a mistake like that, lol. Fingers crossed.

@whatsup1995 It was in my transferable math course (statistics). According to my admissions counselor, that was the only grade he wanted to see. I remember calling the admissions office and they transferred the call over to him. He said “I need to see your grade in math”. Overall, a lot of people that earn decent grades during the spring get in. I just wasn’t one of the lucky ones.

@candylover132 I called the admission office at like 12 today and told them about my situation. Basically they sent me an SGR back in April, but then they sent me a decision last Friday (05/31). The lady at the admission office gave me another counselor’s contacts because my current counselor hasn’t been responsive. I emailed him and told him the same thing, and he replied saying that they made a mistake and restored my SGR.

@daniiellesara Thank you. I will call tomorrow then.

@zettasyntax I guess in your case they would only take “A” or “A-” to prove them your math skills.

I just got an email for housing. USC said that they opened up some freshman housing such as “Marks Tower”, “Trojan Hall”, “Arts and Humanities Residential College”, and “International Residential College”. Do you know which one is better?

Freshman housing seems more likely for me to get so I might put one of them as my top preference.

Also, what should I do if I do get on campus housing? I applied housing for 2019-2020, but I will arrive at USC in January. But then I assume that USC will consider me for housing starting in August?

I heard freshman housing isn’t that good, especially the ones that are available lmao

@sagaciousforever Yeah, it sounds like I needed an A, but even I suppose I still could have been rejected. USC can be that unpredictable.

I’m not really too familiar with USC housing, sorry :\ I did get a housing assignment in early December though. I just didn’t really like the assignment and didn’t move further in the housing process to know how it works. From a quick search, it appears that move-in day for spring admit students is January 9, 2020

@jj1999 I see! I also applied for off-campus housing, but I still put Webb Tower and Parkside as my on-campus housing preferences. I guess I should not put Village as one of my option at all since the chance is close to 0?

@zettasyntax I am seriously considering good on-campus housing such as Lorenzo and Tuscany now. I have heard negative things from my USC friends about Gateway.

@sagaciousforever I would have changed my housing preferences since the freshman dorms they opened up are actually ON campus, but they don’t have AC lol. That is a necessity for me  I need to have Cardinal Gardens as my top choice anyway since I requested gender neutral housing.

After you get accepted and pay the deposit, what do you do? Where do you go to find your other (?) portal? How do I apply for housing? I am not really sure?

@okaecollege Once you submit your SIR and deposit, you wait until they send you your myUSC login details via email. Once you have that, you will be able to sign up for orientation and access Blackboard/Oasis/etc. You can find a link to the housing application on the USC Housing website. For that, you can choose to either wait for the email with your housing login password or you can type in your USC ID (found on your FAST portal) and hit “forgot my password” to get the info as well.

@vegastransfer I want the single room so bad, but is there 0 percent chance that we can get single in any housing?
