2019-2020 USC Transfer

Hey everyone! I applied last year and got rejected and then applied again this year with about 60 transferable units and my first major as Communications and second choice as Public Relations, and I got accepted for the spring!! I was super excited! However, I saw I was accepted as my major being “open/ undecided”
This is very weird to me since I am a junior transfer with already 60 united completed so how do I get accepted as undecided? What does this mean and what are my chances I’ll get my major in Annenberg?? Can anyone help me with some input

So how are we feeling about the chances of us with SGRs? I know it’s been said that some people have been rejected before with an SGR in the past, but this year it looks like it’s been looking pretty good so far.

Trying to get an idea since I’ve got an SGR.
@zettasyntax I know you have experience with this, what’s your opinion about this year? Obviously I know it’s not exact

My fast link reappeared but my sgr is still not back

Did they get rid of the appeal option?

Also, check your emails. They sent an update about housing, they’ve opened up some freshman housing for transfers I guess? I got the email because I got to do the housing last month (doubt it worked but now I’m in the system) so everyone who’s applied probably got it I’d assume. You can switch your building preference up until the 5th.

GUYS! I got in SCA as a CAMS major for spring semester!

I’ll still be around because I have a million and one questions to ask while I figure out what I’m going to do for the next few months, but I’m celebrating for the next few hours!

Can someone tell me if they got rid of the appeal option?

Is the fact that i got into spring will affect my financial aid? Also how long does it take for fa to come?

Has anyone who has had SGR disappear on their portal heard back yet?

@ncityusc Regarding the scandal stuff… I don’t know because I’m all the way over here in NC, but it sounded like from the hearsay from my DD it was just a blip of news and everyone there just went ahead on with their lives and studies and such… I think there were reporters around campus for awhile and she probably just tried to avoid them. The big news the previous spring was a suicide within SCA and it hit me hard personally. Her name is McKenna Martin, from TN, a sophomore last year. She is a year older than my DD, studying screenwriting. Her path had crossed my DD’s path while they were in HS with the regional student Emmy’s. It still breaks my heart :frowning:

Also, if I live an hour away will a package come before I’m accepted/rejected through the portal?

Did they get rid of the appeal option?

@ncityusc Congrats!!! My DD is still waiting…

Congrats @ncityusc! Especially on hearing before 5!

@ebstein Wow, it’s interesting to get someone’s perspective who is currently at USC. I’m so sorry to hear about what happened. :frowning:

I hope she hears back soon, at least we know they’re making decisions as we speak!

@daniiellesara is your counselor christine vargas?

@pesona yeah she was! They transferred me to a different counselor for communication purposes so I’m unsure if he’s now my legit counselor

Nothing???

@transferusc88 I’m feeling pretty confident for you SGR people. The turnaround this year has been pretty insane (the applicant who heard the same day is a wild case). I’ve also noticed people getting in as undeclared and for their second choice major a bit more often than usual. The undecided thing at least, doesn’t seem super super common. Yeah, granted there will be some tough rejections coming. I always found my rejection after 1 B and A’s after my SGR to be pretty depressing, lol. But I feel hopeful that a lot of you will get in as long as you did relatively okay during your spring semesters  They usually admit SGR folks well into July (hopefully not many of you have to wait quite that long), so there are more acceptances to come.

@StipendAwarded What do you mean? Rejected transfers can still appeal. If you were referring to that link posted a few pages ago, appeals for freshmen applicants are finished. They have a more formal process. For transfers, you basically just send a letter to your admissions counselor and they’ll let you know via email.
