@whatsup1995 No. But the later that you submit your SGR, the later you should expect to know their decision. @Trashception No one really knows if it’s rolling or not. One particular applicant found out hours after submitting their SGR. But this is also just one applicant.
Did everyone receive the email from USC Housing regarding transfer housing assignments coming soon? Apparently they are closing the application at 5pm on June 5th so that they can begin making assignments. They have also opened up some space for transfers in some freshman buildings for those of you interested in changing your choices. If you haven’t applied for housing yet, do it ASAP!
@vegastransfer I updated my preferences as soon as I got the email.
@mase31 They sometimes open new sections of classes if there’s enough demand. I remember they opened another CSCI 103 section one semester and the professor was already teaching three other sections of the same class. That was awfully nice of him. Looking at those courses, I don’t know if they’d open up a lot more spaces. I was thinking of something like POSC 103 where it’s currently “closed” at 103 students, but there’s a lot of discussion sections open. Looking back at previous semesters, this class usually has 200 spots, so they’re saving at least 50+ spots for orientation peeps. If you aren’t interested in any of the open other poli sci classes, maybe you’d just have to knock out your 2 USC-only GEs and WRIT 340 if you want to take care of that already. I actually had the opposite problem with one of my classes, lol. It usually has space for 120 students, but it had unusually low enrollment. I believe there were only 14 of us in this huge lecture room. They cancelled a lot of lab sections and they unfortunately cancelled the only one that worked with my schedule. Luckily, I was able to add a Spanish III course at the last minute so I could still take a full load of classes. I really don’t think you’ll have problems getting classes. It was something that I never worried about during my time at USC.
@zettasyntax I’m really happy about that. I was already so stressed out about not getting my classes I needed to graudate. And didn’t want each lecture to be the equivalent of a stadium. Lol I was planning to study really hard for the language placement exam. Lol. But the posc don’t meet the university unit requirements so it might be in my best interest to take I-III. And a couple other courses. I’m really hoping that they open up a couple spots but if not I guess I’ll be spending my first semester getting all the other requirements done! Thank for you responding! And I hope UW (I think?) is treating you well.
Can any of you guys answer this: I applied (and paid the application fee) for housing on May 29 after being accepted on the 28th, but when I look at my housing application status, it has a check mark that I applied but also notes that it isn’t complete. Is that right? I haven’t committed/sent my enrollment deposit because I’m waiting for my financial aid package.
@vegantransfer You won’t be placed on the housing list until you have submitted your SIR and enrollment deposit as well as the housing application. My guess is that is the reason it is considered incomplete.
@mase31 It’s mainly the lower division and GE courses that can get pretty crazy in terms of size. One of my upper division linguistics courses had maybe 9 students. Some of the courses can get really small, haha. But I believe poli sci is way bigger than linguistics. The undergraduate cohort of linguistics students is about 70 students. Spanish III was my favorite course of my first semester. I mention this story a lot, but we went on a field trip to go eat tacos in Downtown LA. That was pretty fun. We had to speak in Spanish when ordering our food and it was just a great way to end the class on a fun note before the final exam. If you don’t test out of your foreign language, taking a foreign language class your first semester could be really fun and those classes are usually pretty small as well. A spot could randomly open up during the first week of the semester if there’s a poli sci course you really have your heart set on. Like any school, students shuffle courses like crazy during that time. Yeah, I’m working on my masters in comp ling at UW It’s been such a challenging quarter and it’s not done quite yet, lol. But so rewarding.
Is any of your counselors asking?
Little late to post, but got denied from Viterbi, non-ttp, as a rising sophomore. I’m debating whether I should stay at my current four-year engineering institution or transfer to Boston University (I’m in Boston’s ‘Guaranteed Transfer Program’). I’m mostly worried to give up my high GPA.I’m also still debating whether I want to apply to USC again next year, I’m not sure what to change next year because I busted my butt this year for USC. But if I go to BU, I wouldn’t apply to USC. Any advice or considerations worth noting would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys!
Hey guys! My counselor and territory manager are not answering so I left a voicemail for my counselor. Hopefully, I’ll hear something today. (TTP who met the reqs. Rising sophomore applied for Dornsife in American Studies!) I know that they received my spring grades and it disappeared from the portal!
Got rejected. I kind of saw it coming because I gave out a faulty portfolio without any playable demo. I am wondering if they get rid of the appeal option? They did not seem to list it on the rejection letter.
Also, I am on the course of graduating early. How high would my chances be for masters, and would they be more likely to accept me than if I applied again as a transfer student?
Anyone else waiting for a decision have their FAST links reappear on the portal?
Is anyone here in the field of earth and space science or something similar? I have to do an interview for someone in that field and write about it. It can be through via message on here.
@krnbtz mine re-appeared as well… maybe it means the decisions are ready to drop after 5…
@fastestbigguy I hope so…
@tmsavage stay at bu eng, im at bu eng rn but am trying to transfer out because they do not have ASTE major/ course work and that is what i really want to study,
aside from that, bu eng is really great and bu is actually in the process of building a 17 story data science building if thats in your general academic interest
fyi there is HARSH grade deflation no matter what anyone tells you but everyone just accepts that and tries their best anyways, profs see this and are genuine people
@krnbtz mine re-appeared too
Son was just accepted to SCA for CAMS!!! We could not be more excited!!
@cantwontdontstop ! Congrats! As a fellow TTP-er who is waiting, I wish him all the best and hope to be on campus with him next year!
