It’s been a week and a half since I submitted my SGR, the only update is that SGR disappeared from my portal ): I applied for East Asian Studies/Dornsife… unlikely, but anyone else with the same major as me and received updates?
@90smix You didn’t get an SGR either right? This year is pretty all over the place, but I still think maybe they should add a little asterisk next year and say that they aim to notify “most” applicants by a certain deadline.
Today marks the 4 year anniversary of my (late) acceptance to USC. Time flies.
Has anyone been accepted for Annenberg Public Relations yet?
@asdfgh6789 I’m waiting for 2nd choice Annenberg PR 1st choice Annanberg Comm. ?
@90smix I haven’t heard back either. You didn’t get an SGR either right??
I applied for Annenberg PR 1st choice, and Dornsife International Relations 2nd, I got in for my second choice. I haven’t heard of anyone getting in for Annenberg PR yet. @daniiellesara
Hi everyone! Sorry I’ve been MIA if anyone has asked me anything. Been dealing with some personal stuff.
Congratulations to everyone who got it! Sorry for those still waiting; that really sucks!
I’m not the happiest atm. My FA is stuck in limbo as I wait for the California Dept. of Education to send my CHSPE certificate to USC. I was apparently supposed to send it a long time ago but was never told to.
I’m also very, very unhappy with my Transfer Credit Report. 16 out of my 60 credits transferred, giving me a possible freshman status. I’d like to contact my counselor and talk him about this however, my mom thinks I should wait until orientation (July 26, for me) so we can talk in person since this is a complex, unique situation in my case.
Basically, they’re only counting the 16 credit cap for pre-graduation classes as the majority of my classes were taken while I was still in high school. (Rough estimate, maybe about 40 of my credits were taken before I graduated high school) I’m planning to petition this asap but, orientation has to happen first. How successful is this petition process? I took these classes to get ahead. While some were counted towards my high school diploma most were not. I ended up not even receiving a diploma from my HS due to taking the California High School Proficiency Exam to leave early. Of course my HS transcripts show something a little bit different and they will not be willing to make changes for me.
So, should I contact my counselor early or wait till orientation? I am just really concerned with my USC paperwork showing my grade as a freshman and being unable to take certain classes due to this status as well as loosing out on housing. I am more than fine with staying at USC for three years instead of my planned two. I am, however, not fine with having to retake most of my general ed classes simply because I took them at a younger age.
For clarification, only three of these classes were taken in a high school setting. The rest were taken online through my community college and were actual college classes.
Submitted my grades like 4 days ago, got accepted for spring in Marshall yesterday. Insanely fast and surprising because of my grades. Fight on!!
What are you supposed to do during the fall semester if you are admitted for the spring semester?
I got accepted on Monday (6/3) and received my acceptance package today. I live about two hours out from USC, but I thought I’d post it here in case others are waiting for theirs.
@sostressed201 do you mind telling us what your stats were?
if my sgr on the portal disappeared yesterday, when can i expect a response?
my sgr disappeared around friday and I still havent gotten anything @whatsup1995
@FemmeFilmFatale I would definitely e-mail your counselor, it can’t hurt. My counselor has been really helpful and even extended the confirmation/deposit deadline since my FA is still in limbo too (they want proof I graduated HS now even though they have all of my transcripts already…) I don’t even have a transfer credit report (can’t access w/o paying deposit) but if this were the case for me it would be a dealbreaker. Hopefully you can work it out.
@Steamedz That entirely depends on you. Some people take CC classes to keep themselves on track of graduating on time. Some decide to take a break and travel. And some might take a break to find work.
I received my last college decision the other day from Oxy. I was rejected lol. I find it interesting how I got into USC, UCLA, and UVA (all top 25 universities according to US News) but was rejected from CMC and Oxy. Apparently I belong at a university and not a liberal arts college
@FemmeFilmFatale Perhaps there were some communication issues between Admissions and the Registrar? The situation I am in is that my counselor apparently never forwarded my GED certificate to the Registrar. So they are claiming that none of my credits will transfer since they think I have never graduated high school. When I called them, they said it would eventually be fixed and to not worry too much about it right now. Your situation could be similar, but I would give the Registrar’s office a call just to be safe.
waiting on one more professor to input grades… the wait for an acceptance/rejection will kill me
@FemmeFilmFatale I just spoke with Transfer Credit Services about my transfer credit report issue again. They advised me to contact my counselor about the issue since it is a problem on Admission’s end. I reached out to her and she got back to me within 15 minutes! She advised her supervisor about the issue and will reach out to the Registrar to have the issue fixed. It turns out that the same thing happened to a number of GED recipients. I would definitely contact your counselor about the issue you are facing to see if it can be resolved prior to orientation.
I don’t get why other people are getting their decisions before I am… I received my SGR way back in April and I was amongst those who turned in their official transcripts right as school ended in mid-May, while others that just barely turned theirs in recently are getting their decisions almost instantly. I’m starting to think that I got rejected even with a 4.0 spring sem.
@Shwchlorine Yeah, my first semester of college I had a 3.57 and second semester it dropped to a 3.48 so I was shocked I even got in. I was coming from the honors college at a good state school and taking 19 credits, so I think they understood why my GPA was not the best. Good luck!!
Does anybody know if there is a fb group or group chat for accepted transfers? Also how long after your acceptance did it take to receive your transfer credit report? I committed tonight so I am just wondering what the timeline is here
