It doesn’t help you feel better or settled now, but there will be sublets for those that move into Greek housing or go abroad in spring.
hey all, long time lurker here and I just got my decision today.
REJECTED from Annenberg for Communications. I’m a second year from a local southern california cc. My GPA is 3.87; I had a SGR and I got a 4.0 this past semester. pretty bummed… does anyone know how to start an appeal process?
Thank you @sagaciousforever !
@CADREAMIN, sorry to bother you but do you know if the acceptance package will be mailed to the “current address” or the “permanent address”? Because if they mail it to my current address which is my school mailbox, it would be rejected and sent back as I am not in school right now. Thank you!
Permanent address. Frankly there is nothing in the package that isn’t online. It’s more of a keepsake.
@florence18 I do not believe there is a formal appeals process for USC, I think you have to do it through your counselor. I emailed mine this afternoon inquiring about doing an appeal and hopefully will hear back on Monday!
rejected. really sucks I had to wait this long. I will try to appeal
@CADREAMIN hi there
Do you know how to check my FA package online or pick it up at usc personally (i live near usc)? Or i can only wait for the mail
Also, how do i know how many credits i can transfer to USC?
Thanks in advance
@RyanLam It will be online when it is ready, can be a week after being accepted, that is, if you have really turned everything in - be sure to check your portal to make sure they aren’t waiting on anything.
You should have an idea what transfers to USC from articulation agreements (and if not one, looking at others similiar to yours), otherwise you get your transfer credit report after you have access to OASIS, which is after you commit followed by the login info they send usually 24-48 hours after that.
@poolsideconvo78 So sorry to hear that, I know you have been so supportive of everyone on here for such a long time…good luck with appeal. It’s been a wild year for those, so ya never know.
There is no formal appeal process for transfers, meaning you have no idea what will happen and if’/when you would get a reply. I suppose you will eventually, but it has zippo priority for them at this point with the new year starting so soon. You send a letter to your advisor explaining why you think they should re-consider. I would copy admissions or any other name you can get incase you have a non-responsive advisor.
If you have the strength to try, might as well, it has been successful for a couple people on here. Best if you have new info to include.
@CADREAMIN were the successful appeal posts on this thread or another one?
@RyanLam last week for what??
Does anyone know when our acceptance packages will be delivered?
@CADREAMIN My son got accepted to Viterbi Computer Science as a Sophomore spring admit. We are wondering if there is such a thing as housing that is a little less noisy? Since he is starting in the spring is there hope for on campus ?
@trojantobemaybe You are wrong I was accepted to both Berkeley and UCLA (UCSD and UCSB as well) and I still waiting. I already committed to Berkeley and even enrolled for summer classes, which started this Monday, signed my housing lease but still waiting… You CAN’T wait for USC to make a decision, life must go on. Especially for a place like Berkeley, where you have to fight for everything. Housing has a crisis here, and you have to go with the flow of things. If I get accepted to SC, I will probably go back running to LA!!! But my 1st week of classes was phenomenal here, don’t get wrong, I hate the place. But it will probably grow in me, the weather is nice, and it’s chill. So many years in LA, and this feels like a nice break. I can tell the academics are far better than anywhere en even professors and trojan friends agree. Sadly, we all have dreams and for me has always been USC.
About how high my hopes are? I stopped worrying a long time ago, and it was making me physically sick. I see so many stressed people here which I guess is normal, but I know, FOR SURE that SC always takes this long, ALWAYS. My best friend from LA who went to SC heard the last week of July. At this point, I don’t care; if it happens, it happens. I’m biased, but I’ve accepted the fact that enjoying my summer and having an early start at Berkeley will help me for good.
Had a few beers with some of Harvard’s swimming team dudes last weekend, they come to train with the swimmers here, Cal swimmers are like stars and won gold medals last Olympics, some Standford student is taking classes here during the summer, MIT and even from Oxford. IM CHILLIN ’ !!!
Dear USC, you hurt me… but I got this! lol Wishing you all the best of the luck! If you don’t get accepted life goes on, try next year, and then next year! Don’t end up hating SC, knock on that door until they say YES! How many times Steven Spielberg was rejected from SC? lol
Hi guys! Just giving an update with stats! I was accepted today at 5:19 for Fall 2019 into my second choice major in Dornsife. I’m TTP, and received an SGR April 19th my Gpa: 3.5, I took less units in the spring and it brought my gpa down from a 3.7 when I got a B. I was so stressed and worried thinking I wouldn’t get in, however it’s definitely a holistic process, I had strong essays and lots of internship experience throughout the fall and spring semester.
@transferusc88 Ugh, I’m really sorry to hear that you didn’t get in. I was really rooting for you. It is a shame you had to wait so long. Here I was thinking my 2-3 week wait after sending in my spring grades was agonizing. Best of luck in the next step in your journey.
Rejected but I’m planning to appeal. Does anyone know if there were any successful appeals this year?
@brookeiu I remember seeing one successful appeal but it was weeks ago on this thread. If you need reference, there are some people who read their successful appeal letter on YouTube.
The one successful appeal that was posted had new information - they have major-relevant job experience they are currently doing that was not included on their original application. You can’t just re-hash what u already said, that just says you didn’t trust them to see it right the first time. Not a good message to send. They are rarely successful for transfers, but I get trying. But move on with things as you may not hear anything for a very long time - they don’t have a process so it just goes in a todo pile without any real priority, especially this late into summer. Don’t be held hostage all over again waiting for yet another decision from them.
