@CADREAMIN Fortunately, I do not have to wait for FA, so I am planning on paying my deposit soon. I know I cannot get USC housing, but I am not sure if I will commute or rent a place near USC. Does my answer to the Housing question on the “Intent to Enroll” page matter? Also, I am a bit confused about my standing. I am certain that I have 62 units transferable to USC. Would that make me a junior or would I have to wait for the transfer credit report? Thank you!
also, since I had TTP this year does that roll into next year as well? Applying next year might be a better option.
Admitted to dornsife spring 2020! It may sound dumb but where could I find the enclosed materials stated in the letter? (“Please review the enclosed materials to see answers to common questions. You will read about topics such as making plans for the fall, our Winter Orientation program and housing application procedures.”) Also, if I choose to take the fall semester at my current school, will my grades for the coming semester affect my admission decision?
@CADREAMIN I got admitted as a Psychology major for Fall 2019. I think I got Fall is because I’m a TTP.
@karlz20 Not easy, see post 7658, conversation starts there as someone else asked same thing.
@Trojan4u1001 That’s great!
@Steamedz The housing question is more so it matches up if you were to get aid or a loan - then cost of housing is calculated into that versus someone that commutes. And it may trigger the housing app - if you know you don’t want/need USC housing (so unlikely at this point anyway) then you can say no housing. If you want to fill out at app just for heck of it, you can say yes.
But it doesn’t affect enrollment/committment.
You really don’t know standing until you get your TCR (transfer credit report) which you get after you commit.
@CADREAMIN What do you mean by maturity? I found people who have a significant upward trend (myself included) (cumulative improved from 3.5/3.6 to 3.8) tend to get in for Spring and those who perform consistently well (3.9-4.0) are more likely to get into Fall.
Is it probably because people who improved a lot are sometimes not ready to start in Fall?
@tryingtofighton They will maintain your file and see you were TTP if you apply again next year, so it doesn’t go away.
@CADREAMIN I just committed to USC and how do I get the transfer credit report? Do they email it to me or what? I can’t activate my USC ID until a few days later right?
@KarlZ20 It’s pretty hard to do internal transfer, especially for popular majors such as Business-admin, Communication, Computer Science, and Engineering.
I wouldn’t be discouraged though since if you succeed in Econ you could always go to a better MBA school.
@Trojan4u1001 Credit report takes relatively long for them to prepare. I got my credit report three weeks after I was admitted.
It usually takes two to three weeks. For USC ID, you have to wait for an email saying that you have an account waiting to be activated. It takes a week for me to get that email.
You can see your USC ID now by accessing FAST on your application portal, but you only have the ID and not the password. So just check your email every day.
@sagaciousforever So after submitting the deposit, we have to wait a little longer for additional information and steps? Seems like a lot of waiting to me
@sagaciousforever Maturity - just what it is. If someone annoys the heck out of their advisor by being needy, or the essays come across like they lack maturity, they haven’t had much life experience for their age, that kind of thing - sometimes a few months makes a big difference in an 18-20something year old in terms of handling a school like USC or other college. They look at everything. So someone may have other good things to offer, but they feel they need more time to grow before they get there.
You keep drawing these definitive lines in the sand with gpa or other reasons kids get in or don’t get in… this isn’t a UC - your statement of a certain gpa getting in spring/fall is not an accurate assemessment. Your friends (a couple) and the people that post on CC is a very teeny tiny sample and not statistically signifcant of what happens. So it is dangerous to future applicants to make bold claims that aren’t substantiated and gathered from a few posts of only a few posters.
@Steamedz Yeah. I think credit report will only be prepared if you pay the deposit. It will take two to three weeks, so there will be some extra waiting.
@Trojan4u1001 You will get your TCR fast because you are a fall admit, they have priority over spring admits getting their info, for obvious reasons. You will get email (prob in next 24 hours, but maybe Monday, not sure) with everything you need to access OASIS. The TCR may take a couple days, but it will show up fast, once you get into OASIS, you will see where all the magic happens and everything is stored and maintained for your years there. Registation - records - finanical - everything happens there.
@Steamedz Same for you - they will send you an email within 24 hours and everything will become obvious - not sure if weekend will slow it or not since it’s summer.
@CADREAMIN I see! It makes much more sense now. Thanks for explaining it to me in such as detail way.
Getting into Fall or Spring has nothing to deal with your GPA or upward trend/consistent high academic performance since USC considers applications holistically.
Anyways, I should be glad that I will start in January. I am just a little frustrated to start in Spring since the housing is a mess now.
@sagaciousforever You mean transfer credit report will be prepared without me asking for it once the deposit is paid? Does it apply to spring admits as well? Thanks.
Also, does anyone know the acceptance package will be mailed to the “current address” or “permanent address”?
@Aaatrojanaaa123 Yes, you don’t have to ask for it once you pay for the deposit. It applies to everyone since admits should know what classes successfully transferred into USC so that they could plan accordingly for their Fall/Spring schedule at USC.
For the address, I didn’t pay attention and maybe @CADREAMIN can answer that.
@sagaciousforever Have you had a chance to look at housing for the Spring? I am in between commuting and staying near campus. Although staying near campus does sound a little bit better than driving 1.5 hour to school.
@Steamedz I did. I applied for both on and off campus housing. I have not heard back from on-campus housing yet but I did from off campus housing.
Popular off-campus housing options such as Gateway, Lorenzo, Icon, and Tuscany are mostly full now and I contacted every single one of them telling them that I will start in Spring. They all replied by asking me to contact them again later this year (October/November) to see if there are any openings by then.
This is tough because most off-campus housing only allow students to sigh a 11 months contract so you have to start in August and end in July.
