So I have had 3 different admissions counselors and none of their names are still on the admissions website. Who should I resend my appeal to?
@Trojan4u1001 How long did it take for them to send you your housing portal password after you got accepted?
I just accepted my offer of admission last night. Does anyone know when I’ll be able to activate my NetID? I haven’t paid the $300 yet, but I will later today.
Hi Trojans. I am a Fall 2019 transfer student from NYC. I applied at the Norman Topping Student Aid Fund on June and just got interviewed today. I was nervous and sweaty while at the interview because NYC is experiencing a heatwave and I was not in an AC environment. They asked me 6 different questions that mostly talk about my community involvement, growth, awareness and personal struggles. I’d like to say that I think I did 60% well throughout the interview but I remember getting stuck on the loop and sounding very nervous. I really cannot tell if the panel was impressed or not but at the end of the interview I got asked a weird question, they asked what my sweatshirt size is? Does this mean I got it or it’s just a thank you gift? Does anyone else in this forum wants to share their experience?
hey, after you submitted the deposit you should get an e-mail within 2 to 3 days saying to activate your net id.
@seahawksjoe hey, after you submitted the deposit you should get an e-mail within 2 to 3 days saying to activate your net id.
@Duvergay, hey i was interviewed today and hoping i get it.
@fadenrock what were you interviewed it for?
@Doodlesack I’m psychology!! But i did mention I’m pre-med and chem is crucial and the fact that I didn’t do well said a lot. I was pretty confident about my appeal in terms of explaining this year in clear terms + showing how i’ve changed significantly and even how I’ve decided to drop pre-med to pursue a career that focuses on what I learned throughout this year. I’m thinking about my appeal more and more now that I’ve already submitted and I’m getting more nervous cause mental disorders are still really stigmatized despite the progress that’s been made and my psychiatrist is probably going to include the actual disorder I have in the letter she’s writing for me ( I kept it really ambiguous in my appeal). I know people who reveal mental health issues tend to get flagged down cause if something happens when they are enrolled it looks bad on the school. Nothing to do except wait at this time though :(. Good luck to you too!
@Doodlesack is for USC Norman Topping Student Aid Fund, the only student initiated, led, administered scholarship in the US.
i’m trying to request my friend as a roommate on the housing portal, but i can’t add her for some reason even tho i typed her screen name and her 10 digit id number. plus all i see is a list of new freshmen on the roommate matching section…
@fadenrock I wasn’t asked that particular question and I didn’t end up getting the scholarship. I don’t want to say it’s necessarily a sign of anything as it could be a new thing. I guess you’d be better off getting answers from other people that might have interviewed this year. The first friend I made at USC was this girl who happened to be a Topping Scholar. As a spring admit, she told me that we have the opportunity to try for the scholarship after our first semester. I remember her coaching me for about 40 minutes shortly before my interview and I still bombed it, lol. I’m sure your interview was nowhere near as bad as mine.
@ys1017 how long after you got accepted did you get your housing password>?
Did any Spring admits get on-campus housing? I applied a long time ago and I am still waiting for housing assignment.
Housing assignments for spring 2020 will be made in late November 2019.
Housing assignments for transferring undergraduates, continuing non-resident undergraduates, and new and continuing graduate students will be made on a space available basis. Availability of housing for these applicants depends on the number spaces vacated at the end of the fall semester.
What’s the topping scolarship and how
Much is it ? $$$
@sagaciousforever Yup, it would be highly unusual if you heard about housing already. You aren’t going to hear for a long time. I didn’t hear about my housing assignment until early December.
@Doodlesack It’s a nice group focused on helping the community. If you get the scholarship, you are expected to help out in some way. This could be in the form of volunteering at their events for the surrounding community, making phone calls letting prospective students know about the scholarship, visiting community colleges in target areas, etc. It seemed really nice and that was the reason I wanted to join as it sounds like the money really wouldn’t have affected my FA package much. I was told the typical award is 5K, but that USC often adjusts things. An example being that if I got the award, my university grant would likely be adjusted down.
Hi! So I was just awarded the Topping Scholarship today! I was interviewed last Friday. As long as you didn’t bomb the interview you’ll most likely get it!
I was asked for my sweatshirt size before I even got in the room, so it’s a good sign! Good luck and I hope to see u at the retreat!
So I just received my financial aid earlier this morning and was wondering if I could appeal to them by going over to their financial aid office? Or does this process only works through emailing them?
