I’m worried about the May 1st deadline too for my other schools.
@pcctransfer16 I’m average lol. After the winter semester I now have a 3.45
Whats ur major @pcctransfer16 whats ur major?
@tazelmx I’m not sure if all schools allow this but I had a friend that was in a similar situation last year during senior year of Hs. Basically, my friend was offered an acceptance to uci but was waitlisted to UCSD. He decided to sir to uci, but then when he got off the waitlist to UCSD in mid summer, he just called uci to tell them that he was able to get off the waitlist to his dream school, and he no longer wished to attend uci. Only thing he lost was a couple hundreds of dollars for the sir and housing fee.
@woshua I had a 3.71 when I applied as a Political Science major and second choice French.
I had a 3.68 but got a D in Bus 14B at PCC in the fall and it brought me down… Are u french btw? @pcctransfer16
@woshua no I’m not french
but did you get a notification about a SGR or winter grade request?
I’m a sophomore with about 60+ credits, do you think I will get a winter grade request or no since I submitted my transcript after my winter semester?
I haven’t gotten a notification about an SGR or winter grades. But I still sent them my most up to date transcripts (winter grades) just so they could see that my GPA had gone up, lol. You should send them too if you haven’t
I think I’ll get an SGR since I am taking 29 units this semester. I did complete 7 of those units and got A’s in both classes (Intro to Humanities) and (Calculus 2) and sent them the official transcripts containing the grade so Idk what they’re going to do tbh.
I’m a marshall applicant so they only need calc 1. I did that last semester and got an A as well on that so I guess they should just admit me. I believe I deserve it
I got a D in business calc in the fall and I’m retaking it rn. Do u think I’m basically out of luck now? @GoodAfternoonSir
I’m gonna be completely honest here bro and this is just based on my own opinion so take it with a grain of salt, but I believe that you will either get rejected or an SGR. I don’t think they’ll outright accept and they’ll want to see how well you perform during the spring semester before making a decision. That’s the best-case scenario in my opinion.
Remember, USC doesn’t honor Academic Renewal or Repeating Grades, if you do repeat a class that had a substandard grade with a passing grade then they include both classes into your GPA. Not a good option if you’d like to pursue graduate school. The UC’s do honor repeating classes or academic renewal so if you do want to pursue graduate school and applied to the UC’s this semester, I’d say go there instead.
@GoodAfternoonSir yeah ik i’m gonna get an sgr or denied, pretty obv since they need to see my math grade lol. Would getting a 4.0 in the spring bring up my chances?
@woshua Of course bro! They’d love to see you get straight A’s in your final semester, heck any admissions department would love that. In fact, they might be counting on you to get straight A’s including your math class so they could make a confident decision.
Keep at it man, there’s like a little over a month left in this semester, keep working hard.
These are all my stats atm,
HS GPA: 3.33 Unweighted, 3.75 Weighted
Attended a public college prep high school so my grades were not stellar
HS Activities:
National Honors Society
Student Government
Drama Club
Yearbook Editor
HS Student of the Month
High School Media and Television Student of the Year: Senior Year
3rd in District Wide Film Festival
My test scores were not stellar: 24 ACT, 1200 SAT but I have been at community college for two years and have more than 30 credits so I don’t think they will look at them.
Post-high school career:
GPA: 3.848 Unweighted
Honors College Attendee
President’s Scholarship Recipient
Held Internship for 1 year at local media and graphic design company
Volunteered on three different political campaigns during 2018 midterm elections (1 governors race, 1 state house, 1 state senate)
Freelance photographer for portraits and theater productions
I know HS GPA wasn’t great but do you think community college will make up for it?
@woshua What class is BUS 14B? Business Stats?
Hopefully you will get an SGR and then get in. Keep us updated!
@zettasyntax No worries man! I am glad that you are back to the thread.
Also, did you commit to USC? Why did you say that you were at UW at some point in this thread?
@sagaciousforever BUS 14B is business calculus which is also equivalent to USC’s MATH118. Also thanks for the good wishes I’ll let u guys know fs
@sagaciousforever I think he’s at UW for grad school or something
