@tommy9998 my daughter transferred to USC this year as a sophomore from a 4 year college. Non TTP. She had a 4.0. She did not get a SGR until the end of May. She got accepted mid-July. She was a spring admit. So, no, it doesn’t mean you weren’t accepted.
@tommy9998 What is means is - like so many others - is that you are finding this process to be so maddening, are losing your mind, and looking for some certainty one way or another. It goes on to long, I totally get that. But plenty get accepted without ever getting an SGR. And some get rejected without ever getting an SGR. And surprise, some get an SGR, report a 4.0 and still get rejected.
SGRs are not universally a good thing to get. It does not mean your application is in a special place on the table. An SGR may be needed to make up for something lacking in another part of the app, it may not be just about grades. The best thing is to be admitted straight up, and plenty will be when they start rolling out decisions. That could be you!
There is no crystal ball. There are more good students applying than there are spots, that is a given. So you can’t say, “I have x.xx gpa, or I got an SGR, does that mean I am in…?” and expect any kind of reliable answer. The only one that sees the entire picture of you (holistic admissions) and knows what spots the schools need to fill, and can tell you if you are admitted or rejected, is USC Admissions.
Good luck all, hang in there!
@tommy9998 not at all, in my opinion. There hasn’t been a large wave of acceptances yet and just because you haven’t received an SGR that doesn’t mean you wont get one, possibly get accepted right away, or maybe rejected. Why do you think you’ve been rejected? Have you done all the prerequisites for USC and your major?
Does when you submitted your application have any impact on when you’ll hear back? Like do those who submitted earlier find our first typically and vice versa?
@ily8853 No, as long as you submitted it before the Feb. 1st deadline. They don’t start reviewing Transfer applications until March, when they’ve finished with most of the Freshman applications.
Hi guys! I received an email from USC titled “Missing items from your USC application” and it requested me to turn in these documents:
English Language Proficiency Score Report
Financial Statement
I am incredibly confused because I am not an international student and I have already emailed my admissions counselor around February this year regarding the fact that these documents are marked “awaiting” on my portal. She replied to me that those documents are for international students and that I did not have to submit any additional documents to what I have already submitted.
I emailed everyone from my major department (Dornsife) to USC admissions to 2 of the college counselors I have been in communications with.
Do you guys think this is a pure error or am I in a serious problem? Are any of you guys seeing these documents “awaiting”? What should I do?
I would definitely recommend calling them tomorrow and explaining your situation. It probably is an error but its best to double check.
hope some decisions come out today omg
@tommy9998 give it a little more time, I am applying as a sophomore transfer non TTP and I got an SGR because (I am assuming) one of my classes this semester, macro, is required to transfer and it is in progress. If you have a steady trend or are not taking a required course this semester, that might be why
I don’t see any SGR or Mid year report request. Is that normal? Btw I’m applying as Junior.
Can someone post the link to the admitted transfer college confidential page
can u check ur inbox @CADREAMIN
@90smix congrats! What’s your major? I’m leaning heavily to UCB too but I got a horrible aid package as an OOS and I’m really hoping that USC would be generous
@whostolemycookie Thanks
Communication, and yeah publics are pretty bad for OOS aid and merit scholarships, but privates are usually pretty generous with both! Good luck x
is anyone using usps informed delivery to check their mail/packages?
@tommy9998 yes i am
@gonnatranser do you think it is 100% reliable? do you think were guaranteed to see the mail or package from usc
@tommy9998 yeah it’s accurate with your mail coming in for the day
is it likely that decisions will come out today at 5pm?
