There are a lot of Nats fans who are quite happy Bryce is being paid in Philly. Reportage here is that the team is much more cohesive and collegial since his departure. The Nats have played “let’s go 1-0 today” for most of their season. They are used to desperation by now and have figured out how to work around it.
Sushiritto, the Dodgers were in the past two WS, though. They have been close enough to taste it.
Of course, before May 24, when they were 19-31, everyone was ready to fire Davey and trade Max!
If the Lerners don’t back up the Brinks truck to Rendon’s locker and empty the contents, there will be some seriously unhappy fans. They can free up enough $$ to pay Rendon and extend Stras – maybe this run will convince them it’s the correct next step.
Mets fan here. We didn’t quite make it, but I’m quite proud of our boys for putting up a huge fight till the end and almost pulling it off after digging themselves into a big hole. And like @shellfell said, looking forward to the post-season awards. Hoping for a ROY and maybe another Cy Young. And a winning next season if we can just fix the bizarrely awful bullpen.
Meanwhile, my job is to celebrate that the Phillies didn’t get in either, and cross fingers that the Yankees get eliminated. LOL.
Happy to root for the Nats. They’ve been looking really really good.
A Pittsburgh/National League fan so I am definitely rooting for the Nats. A son lives in DC and I am in Virginia so also glad to see some Virginia guys in the lineup, including Ryan Zimmerman via Virginia Beach and UVA. He has been in Washington his whole career, which is more unusual these days. I felt a little sorry for St. Louis but thought a sign from a fan was pretty funny/clever- “This is Howie sweep you !” Howie Kendrick was great!
I have a niece who is a pharmacist. She is married to a St. Louis Cardinal fan. I really enjoyed seeing the meme on FB that was an RX written out with the Walgreen’s logo (the Walgreen’s W looks like the Washington W). It was made out to St Louis Cardinals and said to take two for pain as needed.
I almost shared that on her FB page then thought better of it.
He is no longer playing but is still involved somehow…
At least we have a nice, taxpayer-funded ballpark! ? And the food at the Safe (I mean T-Mobile Field) is pretty chichi and good. Can’t say that about the team. ?
I was able to get The Nats games last weekend via the TBS app (we were out at Shenandoah, but staying in a hotel outside the park with free Wifi but no TBS) – it recognized that we had Comcast and it signed me right in to live coverage on my phone.
Ultimately, I really don’t care who wins, but for some unknown reason I want to root for the Astros, even though I’ve rooted for the SF Giants (National League team) all my life.
I just want a 7-game series, close, tense games with lots of in-game drama. Maybe even some off-day drama too.
Could it be the presence of a certain reliever who use to play for the Giants and now plays for the Nats? He didn’t make the post-season roster.

I feel both teams will have in effect the modern-day version of “Spahn and Sain and pray for rain” strategy. Will be interesting to see which bullpen cracks first.
As a Mets fan, watching a certain outfielder leave the Nats for the Phillies, thereby missing the World Series, is my current schadenfreude mood. Go Nats!
My preferred World Series would have been between traditional baseball powers (Cardinals-Yankees) but I don’t mind if the former Montreal Expos win it all.
