That is exactly why we decided not to apply to Tulane. My son was not really that crazy about the school and we were viewing it more as a good opportunity to try for merit aid. Realizing that they really want to see a lot of sincere interest, we decided not to apply there and put our efforts instead into the University of Miami, which also has merit aid, but is a much better match for him overall. Still waiting to hear the final word back from them, but he’s got a few other affordable offers from great schools, so he is in good shape in any case.
