2020-2021 USC Transfer

@millerman63 did you submit your LOR yet? I was thinking about doing it too. How are you going about it?

Are decisions always released @ 5 pm PST or are they at random times?

@hlfite That is a tough answer because any answer is completely anecdotal. I’ve seen people say they heard back several days after they received an SGR but I have no idea how that also translates to a WGR. I would assume you will hear back by May 29th but you might hear back sooner.

Although I agree that @CADREAMIN makes valid points, I must respectfully disagree with their hypothesis on this. These huge institutions have the access, ability, funding, and manpower to address these tasks all at once. If they don’t release any admissions decisions today or tomorrow, we will have gone almost a month with what is likely less than 200 acceptances. We only have 11 weekdays left (not including the remainder of today).

Maybe it’s just me starting to crack a bit but I am very hopeful that USC can find a way to do both these projects at the same time, and their lack of transparency and communication during this time has been a little frustrating. I know we will hear back by May 29th which is solid but I have to find a place to move AND move out of my place in less than a month now.

@NavyGuy2019 No problem, it’s just a theory. We are in unchartered territory here. They are so busy that I haven’t been chatting it up with my contacts there. I agree, the timing is right for tomorrow but with a virtual commencement, my guess is all hands on deck in terms of CS/Tech resources. You would be surprised how small their admissions and CS/Tech support team is actually! And if you went through the regular admissions notification process - well it has been pretty bumpy every year. But you can go back to transfer threads from 2010, and frankly, they sound just like this one…“why is it taking so long?!” I can say once in USC, the online systems are amazing.

Hoping you all get good news and soon!

@CADREAMIN that is a fair point, I didn’t think about the CS/Tech resources. I was thinking purely from a manpower perspective. Every year something crazy happens, doesn’t it? I hope they release a nice chunk by tomorrow. My wife is more stressed than I am at this point. Here is to hoping!

@CADREAMIN were you rejected last year? Chatting it up with people at sc? you work there? are you a parent or student, why all the help?

@zettasyntax when did you got in? when you said you committed to UCLA you did a year there and then had to repeat your junior at sc?

@Doodlesack It’s a long story. I committed to UCLA on June 1st. Heard from USC on June 5th (well 6th when I got the letter), but it was for the spring semester. I was majorly disappointed, so I decided to proceed with UCLA and got pretty far - I was Bruintized and everything. I had my ID card, housing, everything was in place. My orientation experience was not what I expected, but the next morning, I got an email from the linguistics advisor about a brand new major and I withdrew from UCLA. It’s like USC was meant to be after all. And CADREAMIN has been helping people on here for years. Longer than I have, for sure. I like to help my fellow transfers as well. People say I have an insane amount of patience and I think I might. I don’t mind getting the same questions over and over again, haha.

@zettasyntax aren’t you a mod at USC’s subreddit as well?

@hermit1214 I am. My username is the same on here and over there.

Not quite sure If I will end up sending. I would not upload on common app so it would have to be shipped.

I’m getting so impatient, I really feel like I got rejected

Keep hope.

@millerman63 I called admissions today and I’ll be sending it in just in case with my SGR. good luck!

Will you mail or upload to portal?

RIP USC requested for my spring grades but spring quarter ends by the end of June :frowning:

@Kubell don’t lose hope! doesn’t mean you are rejected!

@zettasyntax nice! thanks for all your help

@millerman63 I am uploading to portal!

Hey @CADREAMIN . I just finished my spring semester, so I sent in my unofficial transcripts both online and via email to my admission counselor. What are your thoughts on the likelihood that admissions will even look at one’s submitted spring grades without a request?
