2020-2021 USC Transfer

@snorost THANK YOU for sharing! It really helps those of us who have not heard anything - thank you so much for sharing your stats – and congrats again!!

@oliviavallone tysm, I hope u receive good news soon :’)

@heyigotnoclue @freckledskylight congrats to both of you!! would you mind sharing your stats and whether you’re soph or junior applicant and from CC or 4-year? Thank you!

Expected the big splash this week before the weekend, Thursday is a late start to it, but all good, congrats to all who were accepted today! btw, advisors seldom tell the real plan when asked. :slight_smile: The biggest clue to this being the week was when they told someone the 29th - they always set expectations way out. See it every year, every acceptance cycle.

If they stick with their usual pattern (been same every year except last scandal year), there will be some acceptances tomorrow (less but some) with rejections and last SGRs coming out this weekend, likely Saturday night/Sunday am. And if you have not received anything when they do the rejections, they will still sputter out SGRs till end of month, or acceptances one or two at a time well into July.

Dornsife, Marshall, SCA, Viterbi had results today right? Did anyone from Price get news today?

Also, for research purposes, did anyone that has an SGR, that did NOT send in grades yet, get accepted straight away before your quarter/semester is up?

Any freshman who got accepted without getting an SGR?

For financial aid, after I received admission, I had an email that I needed to submit two documents, after I submitted them I received my offer 4 days after.

@heyigotnoclue thank you! :slight_smile: I got into Vandy! It’s off campus unfortunately but their aid package is AMAZING! Honestly my second choice right after USC. I sent in my SGR so the waiting game begins…crying in the club rn. Good luck with ur decision!

@CADREAMIN can a junior applicant qualify for TTP or is it only offered for sophomore applicants? My sister was just accepted as an incoming freshman and will start in January. If I don’t get accepted as a transfer, wondering if I could qualify for TTP since she will be enrolled in January 2021. Thanks for any insight - just trying to consider possible future options.

@seabee91 @CADREAMIN do either of you happen to know how the credit evaluation works? I was accepted today but don’t want to reply before I know how my credits from my CC will transfer, especially the ones I took this semester (already sent them an updated official copy of my grades for spring, no SGR but sent anyway)

@mlplover69 - CG CG On vandy - they messed up my official transcript which is why im waiting a lot longer - pretty messed up of them so im a bit upset about it. im sure u are gonna get in - r u in a california cc??

Financial aid should be out in the next 3-5 business days after acceptance. Holiday weekend may add a day or two there. There are always some surprised with FA, stunned actually. Don’t forget they are a CSS school, which means they can count pretty much whatever they want as something that can be used to pay for an education. Several people were surprised in regular admissions because of that new $80k income criteria - they thought they would go for free and didn’t realize the assets (business, stocks, etc) their parents had still counted (or didn’t know their parents had assets). I don’t think USC is that far different than NYU in terms of aid. I don’t hear of people getting a lot more at one or the other, they are generally in same ballpark. But it’s a personal thing, can’t compare your aid with anyone else’s. The majority don’t get any aid at all or just get a loan (which is considered aid, uh ok).

@zaggeryyyyy I am a freshman that was accepted without an SGR. I posted my stats to the stats and decisions page if you want to check it out

@WCWSM52 - hey

California CC
incoming junior for MARSHALL
GPA: 3.75
Units: 90+
Demographics: Asian, female, low income, california resident
ECs: full time job, not much campus activities
RECS: yes, both USC alumni
ESSAYS: did them two hours before because, aforementioned full time job

pros: my cc sends a LOT of students to USC - maybe top feeder.
I applied twice before so dont get discouraged guys! :smile:

@heyigotnoclue Just woke up from a sad nap thanks for the hope lol. Do I recognize your username from the Berkeley waitlist forum?

@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” - yes im there too - waitlisted so thats TBA… im leaning towards another school though so :slight_smile: best of luck!

@hermit1214 Yeah I had applied for the IMGD program!

@mill213
From what I remember, credit transfer reports are dreadfully slow. @zettasyntax is that your consensus? I thought most didn’t get that done till mid/later summer? Have any early transfer acceptances seen that yet? At one point they didn’t start processing them until mid June, don’t know if that changed.

congrats btw! Sorry I missed you guys individually, couldn’t keep up - but YAY!
And welcome to the Trojan Family (if you accept)!

congrats to everyone who got accepted!!!
have any physics/biophys majors heard back yet?

@CADREAMIN oh boy. I would hate to accept their offer only to later find out that some of my courses don’t transfer. Does that happen often, based on what you’ve noticed? Not trying to pay hundreds of dollars to retake a course I got an A in at my CC you know?

@mill213 I was accepted on 4/20 and my STARS report, which shows me what credits transferred over to USC, was available on 5/01. So almost two weeks.

I was able to check on: my.usc.edu
Then under Oasis you should be able to access a STARS report. Again, it took almost two weeks for mine.
