I got accepted and didn’t get an email-Dornsife.
@grapesoda2 I was going back through pages and saw a couple posts about an interview you were asking about…SCA does interviews, but Dornsife does not. “Interviews” use to be common and something prospects signed up for, but in the last year or two they quit doing those types of interviews for the most part (still ways to wiggle one in). But the interviews being discussed on here were part of the SCA admissions process. While common there, those types of interviews aren’t common in Dornsife but are done is some “speciality” type programs like Marshall WBB and IYA, some in Thornton, etc as part of the admissions process for that school’s program. Good luck waiting for good news.
are letters of recc showing up on your portals as uploaded? ive seen none of mine uploaded
Congrats to everyone who got in!! #FightOn
Thank You! Brings me a little hope lol, I always loved UCLA but did not like their department for my major meanwhile I visited USC and they had everything so organized and I had so many options for curriculum.
@CADREAMIN thank you so much for letting me know!
I don’t see it in my portal, I am sure they got it though.
I haven’t even taken the final for spring yet. I will know my spring grade after June… Hopefully, I get SGR. Congrats anyways!
@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” One of mine was a Cog Sci/Ling major for awhile, great department. Did research in Italy for a few months, great program, then changed majors. (One of several changes, ha.) That’s how me and @zettasyntax got chummy (he is Ling grad student now and super good guy)!
I applied for Price and I haven’t heard back yet.
Major:RED
Units completed: 61
GPA: 3.76
I don’t think we have heard from Price yet this round…or I missed it, things were flying at lightening speed for awhile.
If I missed any questions, sorry, you can send them again please. I will address some housing thoughts tomorrow. For now, if applying opens up on your portal, apply! Spend the $55 bucks to get in the queue. Submit an app, don’t worry about room mate part of it for now, you can go back in. Just get it submitted to get the time stamp. First come-first served.
Unlikely, but zero chance if you don’t apply.
@WCWSM52 @Eric392014 hey guys! I am entering as a junior from a CC in SoCal with a 3.92 GPA
SDA and still waiting
@sagaciousforever Noted! I’m hoping to switch to annenberg for comm- i saw that there arent any extra requirements compared to psych aside from a supplemental question I answered in my original app
@CADREAMIN Hi, I got asked by financial aid a month ago to fill out the assets form but I haven’t received any decision yet. Why do you think they asked me for it??
@zettasyntax Long time to see!
I haven’t checked this thread for so long and I hope that you are well during this pandemic.
As for me, I enjoyed USC a lot and made some valuable friends. I finished my spring semester last week and got 2 "A"s, 1 “B+”, and 1 “W”. For that “W”, I dropped that class (Marketing) earlier the semester because I calculated that I could possibly end up with a “B” or “B-”, but I was told the “pass no pass” policy two weeks after I withdrew : (
So now, I have a GPA of 3.76 this semester. Considering that I am a rising junior and I will rely heavily on a quality internship next summer, do you recommend me to change that “B+” to a “P”? That will ensure that I have a “4.0” this semester. I am currently taking two summer classes at USC, so these summer grades will impact my grades too, but I really want to get a 3.85 or higher to have the best shot for internship applications (Big 4). Most big companies recruit in the Fall, so my Spring 2020 and Summer 2020’s grades will be the only academic records that I can show them when I apply next semester.
This summer, I will aim for 1 “A” and 1 “A-” (WRIT 150) or 2 "A"s, so the change to my GPA just by switching “B+” to “P” can be significant.
I asked @CADREAMIN about this too but I would like to hear your opinion too.
For those who don’t know: I am a transfer applicant last year and got into USC for Spring 2020. Feel free to ask me any questions should you have. Good luck!
@CADREAMIN Any thoughts? Thank you!
@CADREAMIN since all of today’s acceptances seem to be for fall, is it safe to assume there will be a chunk of spring transfer admits as well - is that typical each year (like for freshmen admits), or would there be a reason USC would only admit fall transfers this year? Thanks!
@bean01262020 You should apply for on-campus housing as soon as the application opens. I applied to on-campus housing last year but didn’t get any. Anyways, I actually prefer to live off-campus though. There are 4 famous off-campus housing options close to USC (walking distance): Tuscany, Icon, Gateway, and Lorenzo.
I live in Tuscany now, which is only 5 minutes walk from USC Marshall and I highly recommend it. On-campus housing options, on the other hand, are not optimal for transfers since it is almost impossible to get Village housing.
In my opinion, only Village housing has good living conditions. So if I were you, I would look for more off-campus housing options (like the 4 famous options that I mentioned earlier). The only issue with off-campus housing is that you need to sublease your place to someone else if you are going back home during the summer.
For those that did not get accepted YET. DONT LOSE HOPE! Do something to get your mind off of it! I was literally playing video games when I got the email. Just do not think about it as much as you can
Does applying as a dornsife undecided for second choice negatively effect chances of admission? My first choice was Marshall and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to study economics or international relations if I didn’t get into Marshall. I did mention my interest for international relations in my essays though.
