How common is it to be asked for a SGR if you are taking Writing 150 requirement in the Spring, but have everything else completed?
@franzgzlz24 I took calc during the fall but was taking my writing requirement during the spring so I did get a SGR. From what I’ve heard and seen during last years process, it is very common for sophomore transfers to receive a SGR because there just isn’t enough to evaluate an applicant with just one semesters worth of grades. So don’t be surprise if you get a SGR. It’s normal. The downside is that I didn’t hear back until mid-July.
I’m applying after one year at community college and I’m following the trojan transfer plan. I got a 4.0 my first semester of college and I’m on track for a 4.0 my spring semester as well. I’m a biology major and I did a few extracurriculars during the year. Good luck to everyone! I’ll update my admission status with more specifics when it comes out
So, anyone else get that email from USC about transfer credits?
@bean01262020 yes I just got that email
Yes, I received that email also. Hopefully, we will get to hear our admission status soon!
I also received it! Is it sent to all transfer applicants?
@ricardop101 judging by these comments, I assume it is! Just completed mine. Hopefully, this speeds up the application review process.
EDIT: Just read about it more. Seems like it won’t do anything to speed up the application review process BUT its going to speed up the actual transfer process (transferring classes, meeting with counselors to discuss course plans, etc) in the event that we do get admitted
i haven’t received it yet
I just received and completed mine as well.
In the email it states, “All fall 2020 transfer applicants are being invited to help us test this new web-based tool.”
I received it too
Hello everyone, new to the thread but I got the same email. This is going to be a long couple of months
i did not receive it
Thank you all! I just completed it. Wishing everyone peace and grace in these times.
I got mine today as well and completed it! Wishing everyone the best during this time, especially with what is happening in our world. Stay safe and healthy!
Just to clarify, if you do not receive the email, do not worry. The email states “this email does not indicate whether you are likely to be admitted to USC.” The purpose of the email is to encourage applicants to enter their courses and grades in a new online tool the university released to test out to make it easier to identify which courses would transfer or not, if you are admitted and chose to attend USC. If you have not received it, do not worry! I’m sure you’ll receive it eventually. “Participation in this test will not impact your chances of being admitted to USC.”
@historylover5 last year I had all the requirements except for the math requirement which was pending for the spring semester. I received a spring grade report in May. I met with the dean of roski admissions this past October and she told me that USC takes the math and english requirements very seriously. Based on the conversation I had with her I think it’s safe to assume that a good majority of applicants with pending requirements in spring are likely to receive a SGR. Ofc I wouldn’t know for sure, this is just my assumption. But I did notice a pattern of SGRs with transfer applicants that had similar circumstances last year as well.
Hi guys, I’m completing the form now, but what should I do if my college only gives out letter grades without + or -? (i.e. A, B, C… instead of A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-…)
@teenybee my college does the same exact thing. I just put exactly what it says on my transcript, so just the letter
@jazziscool I did as well, thank you!
