2020-2021 USC Transfer

Congrats to everyone accepted! Does not turning in all financial aid documents affect their decision? I just got a notification on my FAST portal that I need to provide 2 more documents, but does the speed that I turn them in affect their decision?

EXACTLY the reason why i applied to USC, if you go to UC you are pretty much on your own

to apply to housing you have to pay $55 but many have said that we most likely won’t get housing. Is it even worth paying the $55 to apply?

Is usc playing with the people that wants to do an appeal? The link doesn’t even work at all, you need to be admitted to get through the portal.

withdrawal also gone (viterbi) i’m not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing

I did! I got rejected as a sophomore transfer but i just got admitted today as a junior  just show an upward trend of your GPA and you’ll be fine! Honestly, my acceptance today shows how truly holistic their admissions process is. My GPA was a 3.6 and I even failed a course over the summer (it wasn’t a GE or pre-req and I had a good explanation for it) BUT my letters of rec were really good (I’m assuming). I’m an international relations major so I got a letter of rec from my IR teacher at my CC. I have interned for a lawyer, my local assemblywoman, participated in a semester-long study abroad program, worked a part-time job as a bridal dress stylist, and interned for a consulting company last summer. I also believe my essays were really strong and I talked about the specific programs, clubs, and professors that I wanted to work with. I related my personal essay about my job as a bridal dress stylist to international relations. I believe in you and I 100% think you should apply again!

I was the LA mayor’s Inter for a year and I have a 3.8 pga and still got rejected.

Hi guys, i got accepted into usc today! They didnt ask me for an sgr. I checked my final grades for spring and i received a C in one of my classes. Will usc rescind my admission?

@damjenniferr Your financial aid package will be available around 5 days after you receive acceptance. Not sure if you’re referring to your commit date for USC, but it is either June 1st or two weeks after you receive admission, whichever one comes LATER.

Is anyone familiar with how USC Housing work for transfers? I mean the portal has 12 location options and room preference (1B2P and 2B4P). I am not sure how people are choosing which housing to apply. Also, I heard we might not be able to get housing, do you think is it worth paying the $55? Thanks!

@UCIfirstchoice I’m at the same position as you. I have applied though, who knows maybe we’ll get it. As for the rooms, I think we are placed with other freshmans as we are categorized as “new to USC”. Now I am at the step of searching roommates, or they will match you in the end. I also thought about applying to their undergrad apartments, but I guess we can’t do that through the USC housing app.

Any thoughts on whats going to happen to those who havent gotten anything yet? withdrawal still there, no covid box though

The pattern has been that once the Withdrawal button disappears, shortly thereafter, the decision is released - whether it’s an Acceptance or Rejection.

Admissions said they are releasing decisions by the major, then by the last name within that major. So if your Withdrawal button is still there, then they haven’t got to you yet.

@CADREAMIN Many thanks for your assistance and guidance on these pages. Apologies if this is a repeat question. Is there a site to match roommates at off-campus housing like Gateway, Tuscany, etc? I’m a parent of a recently admitted transfer student. Thank you.

@meganletitia
based on what @CADREAMIN said, seems like it’s almost impossible for transfer to live on campus. I assume the cancellation of study abroad also influences a lot.

exactly. i emailed one of the admissions officers though

Just received my financial aid package. Tuition is completely covered with the combination of a university grant, pell grant, and cal grant. But estimated cost of attendance is about $5k more than UCSD. Is that $5k worth it?

Can someone please explain what the coronavirus box in the portal means/ what is it. I have a link on the side that says like “for updates on covid19 press the link” something like that. But I keep reading things about a box disappearing. Someone explain!

Additionally,
If I got an SGR and submitted my spring grades they requested 3 days ago. When do you think I will hear back from? Approx./ when is the next wave of acceptances/ rejections

Does anybody think that we will be hearing back today?

I’m in the same boat - feel like it’s unpredictable at this point
