Try a couple times, I tried yesterday and it didn’t work. I tried today five times in a row and I got the email.

@SMCMN10 Yeah I never got the email notif either for the acceptance but its no biggie lol, I know I’m accepted and that’s all that matters.

hello - please chime in if you have any advice.

which is a better choice?
ucla business economics or usc marshall

eventual goal for career: FINANCE, WEALTH MANAGMENT, anything EXCEPT accounting

(also please tag me because i cannot see posts for some reason)

You should all be investigating outside housing and in no way count or plan on getting USC housing. If you do great, but start looking at options now. Most transfers do not get housing, every year it’s that way. IF any transfers do at all (again, most don’t) it would be the batch admitted much earlier.

Go ahead and apply, just select whatever choices are on there that it lets you fill in. That is not really representative of what is available. The Village was full long ago. Take your shot, but being the second group AND being the whole covid situation, and study abroad not happening, they don’t expect many (if any) transfers to get housing this year at all.

Gateway, Tuscany, Lorenzo are the big complexes that are fab and on higher end. Apartments and outside housing can be less than those. Look at property management groups around campus - First Choice Housing for example. There is also STUHO, but they use to be horrific to work with so I quit dealing with them years ago. Not sure how it is now, but a few years back STUHO was A-W-F-U-L. Gateway is as close to campus as it can be without being actually on it - huge complex with lots of features, where you pay by bed in aparment setting, versus a house rental where if someone bails, you are on the hook for their rent.

don’t you run out of cc years or 4 year years to apply? haha

but arent they saying that the appeal button is a glitch ? since it sends you to the student portal itself??

@heyigotnoclue I’ve attended a UC as well as a t40 private, and I can say private schools throw opportunities and resources at you. They internship opportunities and experience from both places will be amazing, but USC prides itself on their internships and opportunities for their students, and that’s personally why I opt for private even though it’s more expensive. Please take this advice with a grain of salt, but just based off of what I’ve seen from both being a student at a UC and a student at a t40 private. It’s totally based on which program offers you more opportunities in your field, but in general privates (especially prestigious privates) throw opportunities at you as long as you sign up for the email blasts and contact the right people. Congrats on getting into both! Got waitlisted at UCLA and SGR for USC, so I’m hoping to be in your position soon!

mind saying some of the ec’s ??

my email came in at 5:48 pm

Were you a spring admit as well?

do yourself a favor and go to usc, I’ve never met anyone from usc that was also poor $$$$$$

USC HOUSING, ROOMS, APARTMENTS, SUBLETS

thats the name of the facebook group to find housing around sc
it has over 12k members so it should work for everyone looking

haha no, I meant getting rejected while applying during high school, and first year of college.

@heyigotnoclue
The Trojan Family is no joke and the networks of a private school are just special, it’s just how it is. I have one into IB and Marshall was great. Not gonna knock UCLA, but we also preferred a business degree and emphasizing certain coursework within it over an economics degree.

Is money an issue or all good there?

I didn’t gain admission and consider to apply again next year as junior transfer. just wondering is anyone in this thread applied last year and get rejected and gain admission this year?

@sleeplessincali - hey man i saw you on some of the forums that im also on (lol im on legit every forum). i really genuinely wish you all the best in academics, admissions and any other future endeavors. you are extremely competitive and i see nothing but good vibes for u. thanks for the advice - truly appreciate it.

@CADREAMIN - hey!
for me, that’s a BIGGG sway for USC because of the trojan family POWER, if one can say that… the thing is UCLA has an intense amount of like international well-known name-drop prowess and my goal is to go overseas. (might need ur opinion on that one).

money is not as big of a concern if u consider that I am willing to fork over 30k maximum for my two undergraduate years.

from my research, ucla offers classes at the business school (masters) so i thought it might be similar to a business curriculum anyway. then again, YOU ARE VERY CORRECT as to having a business degree over an ECON one, especially when i am awful at econ. What do you think about that? Name of school internationally comparison? Access to resources ex. networking, job opportunities?

What do you think about USC Marshall versus UCB Haas?

One last thing - do you feel that USC is less diverse than UCLA? Diverse in socioeconomic ways?

Thanks so much! <3 <3 <3
