2020-2021 USC Transfer

just wondering for those who got admitted for the spring semester, what are yall’s plan during fall? I am still debating whether I should go to USC spring semester

is anyone out there planning to appeal their transfer decision? i’ve been trying to submit my materials but can’t figure out how to get into the portal

@sleeplessincali Should I still do it if I don’t have really good grades?

@wwu9907 Did you get a SGR? If you didn’t, then I wouldn’t just because that can do more damage than good. If you got a SGR then you have to send them no matter what.

Transfers don’t submit their appeals through their portal. That’s why you’re having difficulty.

USC’s statement:
“USC does not have a formal appeal process for transfer applicants. If you wish to appeal our decision, please email your Admission Counselor a statement as to why you believe your application should be reconsidered.”

You gotta have something “new” and “significant” that was not included in your application. If you’re just gonna re-argue the same material on your application, then you’ll get the same result since they already made a decision on that application.

Does anyone know when course registration starts? The website says 3/30 but I’m not sure if that’s for transfer applicants or just freshmen.

@moungl You will register for courses during your summer online orientation. Be patient.

Hello fellow members,

I received a SGR on April 28th and my final grades will be ready Tuesday or Wednesday to upload onto the portal. Today I have been hired to work for a firm in the area I am interested in that aligns with my major. Do you think I should inform my admissions counselor of my new position since I cannot add new activities onto the common app? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Have a good Memorial Day all.

Hi everyone! My portal changed back from the old message concerning COVID-19, but I still have not received a decision and there isn’t one in the portal… did this happen to anyone else?

you mean the covid box is back @waytoohopeful? Interesting

I was also wondering this

@arjunk322 I am! It’s happening to me as well. It’s leading me to a USC portal that I can’t log in too either. After reading through previous transfer appeals, I’m assuming that we have to email the appeal to our admissions counselors because there is no formal process.

@wendyzxp I am still debating which school to attend but if I did choose to start in the spring at USC, I might take a few more classes at my local community college while working a lot. Apartments in LA are expensive, and I’d rather save up a lot of money in the fall so I don’t have to work during the spring.

@usctransfersquad Alright, thank you :slight_smile:

No decisions are coming out today, correct? Cause of the holiday? I am tired of waiting ?

Hey there, pretty late reply here, but I am a current student at Washington State University and I am also in the honors college. While the education at WSU and the honors college are both worthwhile to participate in as your education feels a bit more individualized. I am transferring to SC due to the opportunities presented at the school! Being in Los Angeles is only a good thing for opportunities and connections post-degree (that is if you can afford it). I applied to USC this year as a transfer and I am transferring into USC in the spring, and I am very much looking forward to it. In terms of applying I feel that going to a 4-year university shows that you are ready for the next step and are ready for a more rigorous course load. Also, you can get the “college” experience much easier this way! I hope this helps!

@sleeplessincali No I didn’t recieve a SGR or anything

Any thoughts on spring admits? If I were to choose to stay at UCSD for another quarter I’ll be done with my GE, but USC requires another two GE courses to be taken at USC, which is kinda like a waste of time and money for me since I’m repeatedly taking GE classes :frowning:

same!! I am feeling iffy about the spring admits as well not sure if it’s worth it to gap for a semester :neutral:

When do you all who got acceptances on Thursday need to commit one way or the other to your transfer offer? Wondering if that will impact when USC releases more transfer decisions. Thanks!
