If I submitted my spring grades, then around 1 day later I receive a request for 2018/2019 parental income, is that a good sign or am I just over analyzing a coincidence?
@brandon1225 Another TTP still waiting, ugh! Really if you hit the marks (grades and classes) you shouldn’t worry (but get that you would). I can tell you Viterbi is always the school with the last TTPs to get in! I know of Viterbi TTPs that were accepted pretty much same time as freshman admits. Then I don’t know why, but of the ones I know over the last few years that hear crazy late, and well after their grades are in, always tend to be Viterbi majors!
do TTPs usually find out sooner?
@DirtyDreb The offices work independent of each other. I remember getting several requests for additional info the year I got rejected =\ Try to just not stress over the wait. I’d say about 2 weeks is average for the SGR wait, but it can be shorter or longer. It took a little over 2 weeks for me to find out my fate after submitting my final grades during my ill-fated first transfer attempt.
@zettasyntax Why do you think you were rejected after getting SGR? Was it a lower GPA? Not gettings in required courses? What was the reason?
Do y’all recommend that I update admissions if I got accepted into a summer program with one of the big investment banks? thank you!!!
Hey firstly, thank you for being so responsive and informative in this forum. It helps a ton of people out and eases the nerves of applicants.
I wanted to ask for your thoughts on my situation. I submitted my spring grades for my SGR about a week ago and my portal was updated accordingly about an hour later. Since then, I haven’t heard anything or seen any changes in my portal. I’m Viterbi.
I was under the impression a decision after an SGR is fulfilled would be a more rapid response. If this is the case, do you think tonight would be plausible to hear back? Otherwise, about how long do the responses tend to be?
Thank you.
I uploaded my grades just in case!
Do it!!! I updated mine with a position then got accepted two hours later
Is it a bad sign if you haven’t heard back in a while after sending SGR??
I submitted my spring grades for Viterbi on May 22 and haven’t heard back yet. Last year I submitted my spring grades on May 28th and didn’t hear back until June 14th if that is helpful to anyone
@transferjune were you ttp last time you applied ?
@CADREAMIN Thanks for the response! I got A’s in both Calc 1 & 2 for the pre reqs, but only took Physics 1 as I couldn’t get Physics 2 this past semester. Hopefully my 3.75 gpa will get me in! The wait is killing me haha…
@Brandon1225 ya I was TTP
@transferjune Dang what caused you to get rejected as a ttp ? Was the major you applied to super competitive or something ?
Though conditional acceptances are already quite uncommon (correct me if I’m wrong!), would transfers who get in through appeal typically receive a straight up acceptance or is there still a possibility of receiving a conditional acceptance?
hey wdym by updated yours with a position?
@syls0507 Well, I was only asked for my grade in math. My admissions counselor made it very clear that he was only interested in seeing that grade. I got a B. Of course I have no idea why I was ultimately rejected, but with only using that information, it looks like I got rejected for getting a B in an “easy” math course. I know of two other students from my community college who were rejected under similar circumstances - getting a B in the very same math course and getting rejected after their SGR. The way transfer admissions work though, even if I did keep my 4.0, I still could have gotten rejected. Sadly, several do every cycle. GPA alone is not the only factor (but it certainly is an important one).
As a sophomore transfer non-TTP I got WGR on 4/26 and got accepted on 5/22. Definitely longer than two weeks. Hope this ease some anxiety.
@AE2000 You’re welcome. It really is just a waiting game with Viterbi. It really doesn’t hurt to email your advisor and say, Hi xxxx, I submitted my grades last week as requested, please let me know if you need any additional information. I am looking forward/hopeful to great news from USC/ to being part of the Trojan family… whatever you are comfortable with that expresses committment to attend.
Something brief that shows you still really want to go. They like hearing that you want to be at USC. Good luck!
