2020-2021 USC Transfer

@CADREAMIN
they updated it! i woke up this morning and saw emails from them sent at 1am,
Definitely relieved now.

Rejected for Viterbi 6/15 after being rejected with TTP last year. I’m kinda annoyed I was given a SGR as a junior applicant with no important classes in progress if they were just going to reject me regardless of getting a 4.0 in spring. I don’t see why they didn’t just reject me in May if thats what they were going to do anyway ?

Looking for advice:

I applied to viterbi for mech E. I received an SGR. My spring grades have been out since june 2nd, but I got a B in a class that i think really think i should have gotten an A in. I only say this because it wasn’t a hard class and my teacher has made grading mistakes before (mixed up students’ midterm grades). Of course I contacted my teacher but he is taking forever to check over the grades. So, should I just submit my grades as they are now (with 3 As and 2 Bs), or wait for my teacher to respond and possibly get 4 As and one B?

thanks

@freshmanreject I think USC’s email said that they want unofficial grades by July 1st. I would wait like a few days before July 1st, and if the professor hasn’t changed the grade yet I would just turn it in.

Anyone know how long it takes for admissions to respond after turning in sgr? I just turned it in, and I’m super anxious. Literally five minutes after I turned in my unofficial transcript the portal updated to say they recieved it.

@transferjune Really sorry to hear that - you gave it your all and that is all you can do. I remember you didn’t get in with TTP last year, it’s too much - again, sorry for the disappointment. But hey, didn’t you get into Michigan?! That is an amazing school and probably the biggest spirit school ever. Talk about a dedicated alumni group! If that is possible for you, get a great coat and gloves and live it/love it up there! Do you have other things you are considering? Regardless, that’s a great one to have in pocket.

@CADREAMIN I got a SGR on April and my college has posted our final grades today. Should I wait till Monday to upload my spring grade and email my admission counselor or just do it today even the business hours has passed ? Thank you so much for your help??

Accepted for Spring 2021! I was at work all day and can’t remember my passwords to save my life, so I had my boyfriend read me my decision from my computer over the phone lol.

Got a SGR April 22, turned in my unofficial grades this past Tuesday. I’m gonna post my stats on the decisions page, but I just finished work and I’ve been with this page for months so I’m excited I finally got a decision. Got the email at 5:19 PST today, but for some reason my withdraw button did not disappear before the email, so I was not expecting to get a decision today.
3.83 GPA and I went to a UC to a t40 private to a CCC in LA, and now USC!! Finished all but 2 GEs and finished all major prep. Super excited to join the Trojan family!

@zaggeryyyyy go ahead and upload! And email. With everyone working from home they are likely checking in even during off hours. There isn’t a set schedule at this point. Good luck!

I was accepted to Marshall today at 5:19 PM! I intend on posting on the STATS thread, but for some insight for those who may have been SGR’ed and are still awaiting a decision (brutal, I know): I got a SGR on April 23rd and uploaded my grades on June 15th at 4:45 PM. I emailed my USC counselor the same day explaining that I had dropped two classes before the semester began as they were just placeholders while I was figuring out my classes, in case any confusion arose. She replied yesterday, June 18th thanking me for the clarification and confirming receipt of my Spring grades. I was a 4.0 student with one W before this semester, until I received a B for my Econ class. I was sure I was going to get rejected, especially considering even perfect 4.0 students don’t get in! But I guess they saw something in me they must have liked when they sent me my acceptance a couple days after I submitted my grades. Looking back, I’m thinking they wanted to ensure I wouldn’t drop any courses and could handle the full-time work. It all paid off! Fight on!

@CADREAMIN I have uploaded my spring grades to my applicant portal. However, I also wish to inform USC about the awards I have received. I want to upload it on my applicant portal but there isn’t an option for that. The only thing I did is to inform my admission counselor. Do you think that’s enough or should I upload the awards under other random categories on the portal? Thank you so much for your help ??

@zaggeryyyyy I did that with my counselor as well and he gave me a confirmation that the materials were uploaded to my file. You can also submit your awards through ask.usc. I would call admissions to make sure it’s on your file, i submitted a lot of stuff throughout the semester and my counselor was good about sending me confirmations except for my last two documents. I called admissions and they said those documents weren’t in my file, and they directed me to the ask.usc page and my documents were uploaded the same day I think. Hope this helps!

@transfer2024 @calicoffee i submitted my appeal around june 3rd. i was waiting for my spring grades to be entered since my school ends the semester a bit later than others and i’m about to send it to my admissions officer/portal. can i ask you guys what your majors are? i’m public relations!

How long does it typically take to hear back once you send in spring grades?
I sent mine last Tuesday, so hopefully I will hear very soon!

Depends on your major, if you’re engineering like me, I submitted my grades June 4th, still haven’t heard back

@PE1999 Oh my! You’ve been waiting awhile! I hope that you hear back soon! Mine’s Dornsife, so I guess we’ll see! Fingers crossed!

there were a couple of cases of marshall and dornsife applicants hearing back the same day, im guessing you will hear back this week

I emailed my counselor about submitting my spring grades last Wednesday but she has not replied. Should I email her again?

Has anyone that appealed heard back yet? I appealed on May 26th and haven’t heard anything yet. TYIA!
