the fact that some people are already getting spring/winter grade requests means we should probably be hearing back through the end of the month (i hope!). like i said, last year’s forum said that people started hearing back around april 12th, and if they’re pushing decisions up to “early may” like it said on uscFAST, it should be any day now!
If they didn’t receive all our extra materials (high school transcripts, college transcripts, etc.) by February 1st, are we still eligible for scholarship consideration?
@TransferGuy08 nope, mine doesnt say that. Just asked for parent info and their W2 forms. The person I called confirmed that they had my FAFSA and CSS profile. I would suggest calling again
2 days ago.
@uschopeful23 To be exact, the FAST portal says the financial aid thing would come out early may/late April. I don’t think this means all of the decisions will be out around this time. It’s certainly possible for that to happen, but it’s also possible for them to just send out financial aid info without admitting. I heard some UCI people had that happen to them for UCI without actually getting admitted.
I could be wrong tho. (I’ll be happy if I’m wrong lmao pls gimme my decision asap usc, I’m dying over here)
@uschopeful23 It was not a grade request, but rather a request of my schedule like what classes I was taking though I provided my grades anyways.
@sleeplessincali This is my sophomore year of college at SMC, I will be a junior transfer.
@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” aye another LA cc person, I go to LAPC
@hermit1214 thank you! I had that idea like 3 years ago and just decided to go w it for this app. I didn’t cut any music, it just plays for less time because each song corresponds to a memory and I didn’t delete any memories, I just cut down some parts and took out a bit of dialogue from the last two memories. also that’s fair about NYU; I’m from Michigan so I’d be apprehensive to go from cold to colder lol but I think I’d still be down to go. I had my SCA interview today though…I think it went really well so I’m honestly not too worried, feelin’ good about an acceptance!
@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” by chance, was the email about some sort of transcript entry where they asked you to put in your schedule/transcript into some online tool… Because if yeah, every transfer got that
@sleeplessincali I’m not super optimistic, I hope USC notices I took a couple of classes when I was 14 at SMC and it destroyed my GPA, to begin with, my first semester was rough also with family health issues, though since then besides one class over the last year and a half I have had straight A’s. I hope they consider that.
@bean01262020 I got that email as well, no this was a separate email directly from an admissions counselor at USC.
@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” ah, nevermind then. That’s an interesting request. Good luck!
@bean01262020 Thank you, same to you! I don’t know if its a good sign or a bad one lol.
@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” I feel that, I’m hoping that being at a LA cc is an advantage. I went to UCSC my first year and then my private four year and how I’m at LAPC. I wanted to transfer to UCLA/USC and I know at least UCLA accepts the most people from LAPC out of any California cc so I wanted to take my chances and leave my previous college that I really hated. I hope they actually read the explanations I gave them for why I left my previous schools, but I 100% understand your worries. Honestly with these CCs too it’s a toss up, but a lot of SMC people I know get into some GREAT schools because SMC is one of the best colleges here. I think you’re gonna do great.
@collegeappusc That’s good, just remember though, if you ever get a random idea, make sure to write/type it! Yeah, weather is a big factor. I realized when I got stationed in DC that I cannot deal with snow, lol.
and that’s good! I did mine on Tuesday! I feel like most people that get interviewed are in the running, but then again, half of the people that get accepted do not get any interviews.
@sleeplessincali 100% it is I was talking to a friend’s mom who is involved with transfer counseling at UCLA and she said they care about the college as many of these colleges have major grade inflation. My friend who took multivariable calc last semester had every exam as a take-home test… Big more well-known schools like SMC and Pierce have expected reliable standards. The schools know what they are getting.
@bean01262020 OMG! I just realized your in the USC discussion page and the UCI one lol. Good luck on your admissions!
alright, that makes a lot of sense! so just to be clear, no one has received any SGRs? that means the first wave hasn’t started yet i hope we all hear back soon
@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” I think that is a good sign! What did the email say, if you don’t mind me asking?
