2020-2021 USC Transfer

@historylover5
Hi “My name”,
My name is “insert counselor name” and I am an admission counselor at USC. I am writing to request a copy of your current course schedule for Spring 2020. This does not have to be official and can be e-mailed directly to me.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,

@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” I wonder if they’re asking so they can take a look at how rigorous your coursework is for the spring and determine base off of that. But if you’re still taking classes at SMC then you’re probably taking harder classes and that must look pretty good

Does anyone know if withdrawing from courses looks bad on transcripts? My community college literally only gives us like 2 days from the first day of classes to decide to withdraw or not before it goes on our transcript. So I have 2 “W’s” on my transcript…

@TransferGuy08 I think your best to have that question answered is through calling USC’s admission office. It wouldn’t hurt to verify with them directly.

@TransferGuy08 I’m wondering the same. I’ve heard that if you’re still on track with your coursework they’re not as big of a deal but if they’ve slowed down your degree progress it’s different. Not exactly sure but I’m hoping that’s true because I’m in a similar boat!

This is on page 2 of this thread, for those asking about Ws.

Does anyone know what day USC typically sends out any type of decisions? I know last year they started on the 12th which was a Friday, but do they also send them out on Wednesdays?

Based on the previous college confidential pages on USC transfer, the first waves were released on Fridays from 2017-2019. After the first set of release, I’m unsure whether they randomly send them out. All I know is that the first decisions (usually TTP acceptances) release on Fridays.
Hope this helped!

Anyone else think they’ll release a wave tomorrow?

I’m not sure if it will be tomorrow, considering seniors got theirs a week late this year than last year

hey guys I have a pretty petty question but…I currently have a 4.0 and theres a chance I might get a B in one of my major courses. My first major I applied to at USC (called Philosophy, Politics, and Law) does not have any requirements except for the regular Writing req everyone has, but my second choice, Political Science, has two required classes, one I already took, but the other is the one I might get a B in. I have until May 20 to choose if I want to get a Pass/No Pass grade which won’t affect my GPA. But I am wondering if I should just get a B and get a 3.9 GPA, or go with Pass/No Pass without effecting my GPA but it might look a little suspicious to USC since it is a major requirement (for my second choice major)…Let me know your thoughts.

also I know a 3.9 isn’t bad but I really am striving for a 4.0

@nbrewer maybe wait to see if you get a SGR before making the decision. However, pass/no pass seems to be normal now because of what is going on so I don’t think they will look too much into it. If you don’t get a SGR I would do pass/no pass.

while that’s true, right now it’s a special circumstance, also the fact that it’s for your major preparation, you might have to retake it if you dont have a letter grade in it, right? i’m not sure, i believe they allow a few p/f classes but do look into their policy for that!

do you think we will hear back today?

@colb1234567 I hope so!

If we do hear back today, what time do you think?

@dunnowheretogo probably late afternoon

Does anyone know how many transfer applications USC received this year?

Hey guys! I contacted a USC Transfer admissions officer today and she said they are planning on releasing decisions on May 31. I asked about waves as well and she said no and that they’re doing it all at once.

@mill213 ugh. that’s a bummer. I just wish they’ll send rejections earlier too, so that we don’t have to stress too much about it. haha
