2020-2021 USC Transfer

@CADREAMIN thanks for the help! I’ll do that then, I uploaded my mid term report right after all schools made the online switch showing my upkeep of my 4.0 (I am an incoming junior) so I feel as if that may be a factor in me not receiving a SGR. Thanks again!

Are most of you guys getting SGR’d Dornsife applicants?

To answer a couple questions over the last few pages:

  1. Not all TTP’s have heard, many do hear early, but there are always some that hear later too. They are not done!

  2. All schools will be sending out acceptances through May (and later for a few too). The big fireworks finale will be last week in May - that is when rejections go out and the “final” acceptances. “Final” cause while it will be a chunk of acceptances, believe it or not, some will still get an SGR at the end of May - ahhhhhhh! And others will be waiting to send in their grades from earlier SGR’s that they received.

  3. @zettasyntax is correct, there will be plenty with perfect scores that don’t get in. One, because there isn’t enough room, and two, because they are holistic and sometime a student with a lower gpa fits the puzzle they are building of a class picture better than a student with perfect scores. During regular admission, close to 4,000 with 99 percentile scores of both gpa and testing are turned away, many of those with 4.0s.

  4. In past years, they have liked this Friday (tomorrow) to send some results (emphasize some - they tend just to spit a few out here and there it seems)! I don’t know (and my birdie isn’t on campus to verify), but it follows trends to see results tomorrow from Marshall & Dornsife in the afternoon. Again - just a guess, please don’t hate me if it doesn’t come true - with this covid crap, it’s a bit whackydoodle to predict things.

Figured it doesn’t hurt to put it out there since you are all watching anyway…but if this stresses you, turn away! Good luck all.

@CADREAMIN thank you for helping all of us! I know all of us appreciate it (:

@CADREAMIN what do SGR’s typically mean? do they mean they want to accept you but they want to see more grades? it doenst make sense when a junior gets an SGR?

I had a question. @CADREAMIN and many others have mentioned that USC will most likely SGR you if you are taking a prerequisite or important course to your major. However, I was questioning how USC will know if we are taking a prerequisite course if this year USC did not have us input any of our past or planned courses in the common app. They only requested a transcript and transcripts only shows completed courses (does not display planned courses).

Hey everyone, a weird thing happened on my portal.
So I got SGRed last week and was waiting for my uni to finish grading and was planning to submit my spring grade as soon as it comes out. However, I was just randomly checking my USC portal and there is no spring grade request on my application checklist though it was there until yesterday. Does this mean anything? I still got an email last week saying that I need to upload spring grade, but isn’t this just weird? Why is this happening?

I think your transcript does show your planned courses if you sent your grades by the time you had registered for spring classes.

@UCIfirstchoice that’s weird. I would contact admissions office and ask what happened?

I just had an admissions director from SCA reach out directly (directly as in it wasn’t an SGR email) to ask for a screenshot of my courses in progress, anyone know what this might mean? fingers crossed it’s that my decision is coming sooner rather than later haha

@collegeappusc I would take that as a good sign! Could be that they are looking to make a decision for you sooner rather than later

@CADREAMIN Hey man, thank you for your continued support and advice in this thread. I am a freshman at a CC and applied for sophomore transfer to Marshall (Non-TTP). I completed the English and Math requirements last semester (I have 6 APs all with 4s and 5s) and I am even taking Calculus II this semester. I got a 4.0 last semester, and I’m looking at a 4.0 this semester as well. I have completed 7 out of 8 GEs and both Econs (micro and macro) and the accounting course (financial last semester, managerial this semester). I still have not received an SGR from USC and I’m getting a little worried, do you think they haven’t looked at Non-TTP sophomore applicants much yet?? Thank you!!

Still submit your spring grades no matter what. Even if they do not ask for it or take the request down.

@Sri12345 There are freshman applicants that don’t get an SGR - if you applied before and they can see your hs work was stellar including APs, or your first semester is progressed enough for the major as it appears yours is - sometimes that first semester is enough on top of good essays. It’s not a scientific formula, so I wouldn’t worry - not getting an SGR can be a good thing too.

hmmm and ugh, was hoping for some news today for some…

will anyone hear today?

@CADREAMIN I just want to say that over the past two years I have been coming on here for information, and you have been an absolute treasure to this forum. Thank you for your calm reasoning, and the constant help you provide to everyone.

@colb1234567 From what I’ve read on past forums and the advice @CADREAMIN has posted on threads, if anything does come out tonight it won’t be until 5-6:30 PST. If not tonight, I think they might start releasing some sputters from Dornsife and Marshall next week (could be any day though). Just my opinion based on the patterns I’ve noticed in USC decision waves within the past few years (although it could change due to the current situation).

Does anyone know when Viterbi usually releases?

@user_369186 Viterbi is usually the last chunk of decisions that comes out at the end of May. Depends though, I have heard of some hearing early on, typically second year community college students who have a lot of units under their belt

Any Marshall Business - How do you feel about paying $120,000 for the remainder of our 2 years for an undergrad degree?

I’m conflicted.
