@SlackJack006 Unfortunately it is likely he will receive a Spring grade request as well, further extending the date in which he’ll hear back. That’s the position I’m in as well
if a TTP student hasn’t heard back by now, is this a cause for concern ?
I am a sophomore transfer applicant with a 4.0 GPA & about 26 units when I applied; however, 41 units by the end of spring semester. I took summer courses, full time for fall, winter, and full time for spring. I have a lot of EC’s, solid essays, legacy, and completed both writing and math requirements. Even though I still have not heard back, I’m just trying to be as positive as I can! No matter what I just have to remind myself that everything will be okay and work out for the good!
I called USC today, TTP students have a special mark on their application distinguishing them from the normal applicants so as long as you have met the requirements then you should be fine. I’m also a TTP student and haven’t heard anything back yet either. It should be fine as long as you’ve met the requirements that they’ve said they wanted. Have confidence in that!
Also, It’s still very early in the “game” right now so we shouldn’t be worrying. Just keep waiting and try to keep yourself occupied as best as you can. The person I talked to today said to just keep waiting. Not much else we can do.
im hoping that a lot of decisions come out next week. in the past decisions usually started coming out heavily during the last week of april/first week of may
does anyone know if we will hear back tonight?
@colb1234567 i doubt it. maybe tomorrow or monday if anything
How likely will an applicant who got a SGR with 4.0 gpa in both fall and spring still get rejected in the end?
i am currently a sophomore and got sgr
i am super worried that they think something is off and i am gonna get rejected even with sgr ugh :’(
Do Dornsife decisions typically come out later?
For people who have gotten a decision yet: do you receive an email that your portal has updated or do you just have to keep checking?
@zaggeryyyyy It would be depressing, but it still happens. USC simply can’t accommodate everyone, so people with perfect stats have and will continue to get rejected. There’s really no such thing as a sure thing. I’d call getting a 4.0 during your spring semester as close to a sure thing as possible, but you really never know. There are just several other potential factors. My GPA was technically lower the second time I applied and that’s when I was admitted.
@zaggeryyyyy I have the same question… I just got SGR’ed and I’ve had a 4.0 every semester (including winter/summer). I’m currently a sophomore at a CCC.
@trilogies Same! Kinda-ish. I just don’t know why some sophomores get SGR’ed if they have 4.0s the whole time
I have a 4.0 and I’m a sophomore, haven’t gotten an SGR or WGR. hopefully I don’t get one either because that would just delay my decision date
@mlplover69 At this point it feels like torture lol… but looking on the bright side, since we’re already sophomores, the SGR’s for incoming juniors can be seen as a way for the admissions counselors to ensure we’re maintaining our GPA. Especially now with COVID-19, I’m anticipating more junior applicants to get SGR’s than usual so they can gage who is adapting well or dropping with excused withdrawals.
Question from someone who got a SGR (I’m a sophomore w/ a 4.0 GPA for reference)… when I sent my transcripts during the application process, I was enrolled in 6 classes with the intention of only keeping 4 of them, since my Fall semester hadn’t started and I was unsure of which courses to keep. I ended up dropping two unnecessary courses before the semester began (non-GE/major req). They were only there as possible choices for an Honors extra-curricular fulfillment. Once I send in my Spring transcript, could this be frowned upon? The classes won’t show on my transcript since they aren’t withdrawals, but if they compare my transcripts from Fall to Spring, they would see the absence of those classes. Even if I maintain my 4.0, could this jeopardize my admission? I’m debating reaching out to my admissions counselors regarding whether this needs any explanation.
Hey guys quick question regarding my application. My semester ends on May 4 and then there are about 2 weeks of finals, so I should receive my official updated transcript with all my spring grades by ~May 22. If I haven’t gotten my decision by then or a SGR, should I submit my official transcript again? I am considering emailing my counselor to ask but I’m afraid he might then request a SGR, which would most likely delay my decision until June or even July. Any advice or ideas?
@trilogies when will you receive your spring official transcript? I’m in a similar situation where I was enrolled in two summer classes (one during summer I and the other during summer II) and submitted an official transcript back in early March with both of them shown. However, due to corona my summer II course was cancelled and summer I was moved to summer II (confusing i know). However I have not let them know of this, my friend who attends USC said I should only let them know after/if I am accepted (I guess it might hurt my application). Just my advice, but I wouldn’t mention it until you receive a decision. If you haven’t received one by the time you get your spring grades, then maybe submit them then. I’m still not entirely sure about when/if to submit spring grades when they are received though if you didn’t get an SGR (any advice from others on this would be appreciated!!).
@mill213 Yes, absolutely. If you get any grade updates that are in your favor and you have not been asked to send them, go ahead and submit them asap. Shows interest on top of great marks, can only help.
