2020-2021 USC Transfer

Does anyone know how long it typically takes to receive a decision after you submit an SGR?

while I don’t know personally and it probably varies, people on the thread have been indicating June

For SGRs:

It is not a waitlist. It just means they are curious to see how you do this semester/quarter.

Submit FINAL grades. They are well aware colleges are on different time schedules. If you think your institution in particular deviates from the norm significantly (i.e. late June) then email your regional counselor and ask them for their thoughts.

Do not feel discouraged if you have not received an SGR. It is a misconception that SGR’s are tipping points for applicants and that if you get one and do well, you are guaranteed admission. This is not true. More times than not, an SGR is issued because you may not have completed enough courses to demonstrate academic success at a collegiate level or your current semester has a filter course. This is something like Calculus 2, Electromagnetism, or Anatomy. Filter courses are essential courses to your major that often are very difficult and are decent indicators of how you will perform in your higher division courses. Hence, these courses cause a lot of students to switch majors or rethink their academic pathway. Universities like to see the outcome of these courses to feel confidence in your academic ability and passion for your major.

I want to reiterate that even if you do well and pull a 4.0, it does not guarantee admission and those who have not received an SGR should not be discouraged.

thank you . I keep reminding myself not to be discouraged since I’ve heard nothing

@sportsguy808 Wait a minute, you mean only attending usc for a year? how do you know the unites are transferable for the 3rd year, which college do you go to? it would be bliss if they take classes from my junior year so i don’t loose it and have to repeat it. Im in the clas of 2021 at another 4 year but re-applying again here

True, I got my rejection last year right on the 31st… I wish I knew so i wasn’t so disappointed, basically if you didn’t hear anything by the last week of may then is a no

It is weird for someone to get a SGR over their third semester language course as opposed to a huge major prep course? That’s my last GE I’m filling this semester and I was thinking about how weird it was to possibly receive a SGR over that one course in particular…

is there any chance some results will come out today?

I’m doneeee then lol remember the scandal also served as publicity for the school and so that prompted many more to apply. Everyone wants to rub shoulders with the rich kids

No hun, expect things to get serious next week

@Doodlesack damn next week? i thought everyone was expecting things to pick up this week…

@mill213 maybe, but expect things for next week like the big waves you feel me?

Any of the SCA applicants hear anything back yet? :’(

Maybe we should all make a resolution to not check until we get an email saying there is an update to our admission portal lol. This is torture.

@Doodlesack I’m transferring from a Community College! I would be attending USC for minimum 2 years.

I didn’t get an SGR. The general consensus on this thread Is to send your final grades regardless. If I get one B is still worth sending the final grades unrequested, or should I bother?

@grapesoda if it hurts your GPA, I wouldn’t. if it helps, I would. just my opinion/what I would do though

Hi guys, I just get 3 midterm grades from the 5 courses I choose this term. The grades are really good. Maybe I will get other grades later this week but there is no exact time. Do you think I should upload these 3 grades first, or wait to get all grades and upload together?

@Doodlesack
Hi there! What makes you think it will be next week rather than this week? Just curious!
