I just got a SGR
@oliviavallone This year is behind and off the schedule of previous years, so I wouldn’t be so reliant on them. We have no idea at this point
Can USC still give you a conditional decision if you haven’t uploaded your SGR? My quarter only ends on June 26th. I’m so worried now…
Actually… this makes sense. During my interview, the professor briefly mentioned that the transfer situation was especially limited this year - more than usual. This is probably what he was referencing. ![]()
I’m gonna just assume the worst at this point for myself lol
@CADREAMIN - From your experience, once the SGR are sent in, how long it takes for the TTP to get an answer? I have read pf people getting responses within hours but those seem to be after the May 31st deadline. My student has acceptances elsewhere that want a commitment by mid-May. Thanks!
I’m a current applicant for USC’s fall 2020 transfer class majoring in biology. I graduated high school in 2017 and was put onto USC’s TTP (both parents are alumni). In the spring of 2018, I received my acceptance on April 30th with a 4.0. However at the time, I didn’t feel ready to transfer and had spoken with my counselors about staying at my community college for an extended amount of time. They told me staying at my community college wouldn’t affect the transfer process as long as I maintained strong grades in demanding classes. Since then, I reapplied this Feb, and currently have a 3.8. However there were two semesters I was taking only 10 units each, but I also took classes that summer which if you balance out that year in total, it still is about 30 units. I’m worried that this may have affected my chances of admission this year, and seeing that a majority of people haven’t received any notices either, I’m beginning to get more anxious
@xlouise29 if you don’t mind me asking, what is your major?
How can submit SGR We didn’t get spring grade yet…
@choiii You would have to wait until your spring grades are finalized and submitted
@CADREAMIN any insight on the whole transfers being limited this year due to freshman over-enrollment?
To everyone worried about sending in SGR’s but haven’t received their final grades, send in a copy (if you can) of your current grades in your classes. I’m sure this would be better than sending in nothing, but I’m sure that USC understands that many transfers won’t have finalized grades until mid-june. If you’re still unsure about it, contact your regional admissions counselor and see what advice they can offer.
I wouldn’t think transfers will be limited this round. USC is not the only school to have an acceptance rate increase, and last year’s yield was 42%, so not everybody accepted will go. Many international and continuing students will likely not return for Fall as well.
But I wouldn’t try to read through the tea leaves either and just wait for information to come out directly.
@nyeoominheelys I applied as an econ major
@desertsolitaire thanks! I think I’m definitely going to try to do this.
so essentially, anyone who receives an SGR is basically on a waitlist until further response of an admission decision?
@nyeoominheelys I wouldn’t use the word waitlist, but admissions will review your application again when spring grades are in. You’re not waiting for a space to be open, as a usual waitlist is.
does anyone have their FAST portal completely completed? Mine says my application is still in review.
my fast portal upon looking says it needs more info, although the things were submitted… and I essentially consider SGR a waitlist of sorts (Even though it isn’t considered that to my knowledge) since people on this forum have said they were denied, even after getting all A’s the semester they were SGR’d
@zettasyntax Hi, I’m currently planning to transfer to USC Annenberg as a journalism major for fall 2021. By the time I transfer from my CC, I’ll be finishing my 3rd year with about 62 units. However because of this pandemic, this semester I’m only taking 9 units and 6 of them transfer to USC. I had to drop them but I have no Ws on my transcript. I contacted the admissions counselor who reviews the applications for my community college and he said it is fine because of the circumstances. My GPA is 3.62 and it’s probably on the upward trend.
I’m just curious if Annenberg will accept me if I got a B in one of my english classes and having two semesters of being part time student (one because of the virus) and getting a C in Stats. I was told to take another English class but I don’t know if it will help me if I got an A in it. Also, I’m worried that I cannot find an internship due to COVID-19 that it’ll make me less competitive. I already have employment and a club that I joined.
I just need some advice, Thank you.
My admission counselor has specifically asked for FINAL GRADES instead of a copy of current grades. I feel like sending them a current grade might be meaningless since all they want to know is if you can perform well all the way til the end of the semester. Doing well at this moment doesn’t really guarantee excellent performance at the end of the semester. It might also add extra burden to them since they are probably so busy on handling all the problems raised by coronovirus
