2020: Consolidated weather issues/travel challenges/airline priority phone # thread

Supposed to be on a flight tomorrow morning out of ORD. Praying we get the low end of the forecast for snow. At least our flight seems to be originating here.

Well, D’s plane is on time to get here to fly her back away from us. It’s just flying back & forth between CA & HI. No significant weather issues.

Delta has weather advisories for the NY area airports, and Boston for tomorrow.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that flights further inland continue to happen. No advisories there yet.

Well, they’re starting to screen folks coming in from China at 3 airports — SFO, LAX and Kennedy airport in NYC for a new strand of coronavirus.

Anyone getting snow yet? Are you too buried under the snow to post?

Waiting for snow here in New England! Have the wood stove on against the single digits. I’m home feeding that and glorying in my introversion while husband is out running errands ahead of the weather.

AccuWeather used the term “Juggernaut,” which husband and I feel would be justified by a event of feet not inches. I think someone didn’t get a job on the action movie they wanted and is trying to make the best of their more mundane life as a forecaster.

That said, we’re definitely staying off the roads and wish all travelers well!

NW CT here…it just started to snow…light flurries. Our traveler got here just fine. Our airport is posting no cancellations at this point. Delayed are typical delays.

The weather forecasts are all over the place. We will either get two inches or ten inches. No plans…so it really doesn’t matter. It does seem like the day OF a snowfall, they should be able to to a better job.

We woke up in Northern Ohio to about 3-4 inches which was quickly being topped by some freezing rain…and later rain. Played “beat the clock” to get it shoveled/snow blown before it became too waterlogged and before it freezes tonight as it drops to the teens. I think those north of us have higher snow totals. Detroit would have been a little messy flying out/into this morning!

FedEx canceled the delivery citing the weather. The snow is no big deal here and USPS delivered its package this afternoon. What’s wrong with FedEx? It is the third time this is happening.

Delta airlines had travel advisories for all of the NY metro area airports, Boston and Detroit. Folks could reschedule at no charge.

The snow plow just went by. I’d be surprised if there is an inch of snow.

Delivery can get cancelled because the weather is iffy or expected to get iffy soon at the point where the package is sitting… happened to us this week. All roads were clear on Friday here but the package was on a truck still traveling through the mountain pass…

DIL and her family had to fly to NY for a funeral yesterday. Haven’t heard yet, but assume they made it ok. Weather there sounds horrible for a funeral today!

We got six inches of snow overnight and woke up to a beautiful, sunny day. I love Maine.

@MaineLonghorn what’s it looking like forecast wise for Friday through Sunday up your way? We are supposed to go to ME, but won’t go if it snows.

Forecast is for “snow showers” Saturday and Sunday. Less than an inch each day.

@thumper1 Now they’re showing no snow on Saturday but 5-9 inches on Sunday!

Oh god. We would need to drive from Camden to CT on Sunday. Not doing that in snow!

Wait and see - they could change the forecast between now and then.

Any updates on weather this weekend?

Hard rain in southern Maine tonight. Blech.
