2020 Stocking Stuffers

I live overseas so tend to start my holiday shopping early. Last year, I found the stocking stuffers thread to be sooo helpful in finding things for my two teenagers, so I looked to see if there might be a new one. Nope, so I thought I would start one. So far, all I’ve come up with are the usual - lip balm, socks and, of course for this year, a couple of “interesting” masks. Actually, I did find one thing I’m proud of for my, ahem, artistic daughter - a pack of “Monster Mayhem” playing cards from a company named Calamity Ware. Anyone finding anything great this year?

I bought some beautiful tiffany patterned screen wipe cloths. Everybody is getting one in their stockings this year.

I hear these are popular right now. Non-touch door opener/elevator button “keys”.

I bought multitools like these:

And will do lottery tickets again, those are always a hit!

Looking forward to hearing more ideas!

I bought a bunch of Souper Cubes from Williams-Sonoma. They’re silicone food trays for freezing food in manageable portions. They come in 1/2 cup, 1 cup and 2 cup sizes.

Souper Cubes are a cool idea I’ve never heard of. But aren’t these large for a “stocking stuffer”??? Are the W-S version different?

Here they are on Amazon (there are less expensive brand options):

@abasket, the Amazon ones are exactly the same ones I saw in WS yesterday. $1 cheaper. I think I need the 1 cup and the 2 cup size…

Souper cubes aren’t small…check the size of your stockings.

Boring ‘stuff’ for now:

Hand sanitizer from TJ
Travel packs of toilet seat covers (camping goods store)
Tube of tea (TJ does them in a pack of 12 at holidays; I will add one tube to each stocking / secret santa)
Non slip socks (instead of slippers)

More to come…

Cute masks. My husband has one with images of our dog all over it.

But we tend to give food gifts in stockings: French fruit pastes. Marzipan. Tubes of German mustard. Jars of nuts in honey or fruits in syrup. Tins of smoked fish. Interesting chocolates.

And yes, our stockings are huge, and what doesn’t fit gets put alongside it. They are my favorite holiday gifts.

Our stockings tend to hold consumable things…and treats. There is always one real item in them. Last year it was portable phone charging things.

We all use those mesh body scrub sponge things but I read an article about how much bacteria live in one even when you get new ones often. I found an anti-microbial silicone one that can be recycled and it has a suction cup to hold it to the shower wall. I bought one for everyone who will be here for the holidays!

For runners and walkers, slap bracelets that light up for walking at night. I love filling stockings so usually put more expensive items like new makeup color palette that they wouldn’t splurge for, prisma markers for my artistic one, longer woven lightning cable that’s nice when traveling. For mask wearers, I like the mask lanyard I bought. It is really nice when taking mask off and on when I run errands and I don’t have to have pocket to put it in.

Note: the mask lanyards would be great for young children so they don’t drop or leave masks somewhere. You can get them with breakaway clasp at back if you have safety concerns.

Last year I got my D and DIL tea towels:

They have other items as well; not just tea towels.

For runners or bike riders…how bout a RoadID?

I have not thought about a RoadID. When running or biking, I always have my cellphone (with H listed as ICE… in case of emergency contact).

Being old school, I also have an address sticker on the back, under the clear cover. There is probably a minor security risk to that, but I like the idea of I lay down the phone a friend or coworker would quickly know it is mine.

I’m thinking of going with a better for the environment theme. Beeswax wraps, silicone bags from this company https://www.stasherbag.com/collections/the-stand-up-lineup
Reusable straws. Any other ideas in a similar theme?

I just bought some nice beeswax wraps from Trader Joes

Later I took a look at the RoadID bracelets. They do look cool, especially for folks that do more ambitious runs and bike rides than me. They are designed for wrist, but alterntatively hey could probably put some where on bike or running belt.

@colorado_mom I got one for my mom a couple of years ago for Christmas since she walks by herself and does not carry a phone. My mom is 78 and is in good health, but I worry she could fall down when walking and wanted a way for someone to contact my dad if she did.
