@DefOfInsanity I was thinking same! Yesterday admissions Facebook page just announced they were closed due to weather
Why couldn’t they have given a simple message addressing the issue of the 1/31 deadline
- Error connecting to the authentication server, the Admissions team has been notified. Please try again later.
It’s almost like that scene in the movie Airplane - now I am dating myself - where the radar system went down and it turned out to be one of the employees unplugging the power cable from the wall. ? you can’t make this stuff up.
@spqr70nj ???airplane. Maybe that’s what’s happening ???
Am now getting the error message can’t connrct to authentication server
Frankly it’s a pleasant change at this point ?
Just an update for anyone still waiting - I called admissions this morning because I could not login and didnt check on the midnight reset, and there was a message at the beginning that said:’ “We are working to get decisions out as soon as possible, but some students who have expected decisions by January 31st may not receive them for a couple days as we are working to get them out”. So looks like it’s going to be a couple days more guys. My son applied back in September for DUS and still nothing, crazy.
@vadad2019 thank you so much fir sharing what you heard from admissions
@spqr70nj @ziveli513 I was thinking the movie Groundhog Day. You wake up on 1/31 and you’re back to 12/24. You wake up on 2/1, back to 1/31, which are both still just the new 12/24… laughs manically and ends up beating head onto something hard to make it feel better (Yes, we are Wait Listed, but I am following those of you who wait and also looking to read advice that still does come up that could help my S.)
@MyaCocoa I have been thinking Groundhog Day too for a while now
each time I check portal to see “under review” since 8/15!!! It’s as if in the portal it’s always the same day
And since tomorrow is Groundhog Day…maybe the universe will give us the answers finally lol
My d is chill, remains blissfully unaware except that decisions are delayed
She is looking forward to trying on prom dresses tomorrow with me and her sweet boy.
And she still wants to wait for postal mail for her decision. If it goes against our hopes in the portal I’ll let her know myself
But if she gets accepted,??? the mailbox will be the way
Like the way she got the packet from Clemson and Ohio state and Pitt etc etc
Hoping for one more, the number one ???
how long did everyone wait before getting the acceptance package
From the Acceptance Student Guide
If at any time you decide not to attend Penn State, please email us about your plans at mailto:admissions.psu.edu or use the Offer Decline function in MyPennState. If you decide not to attend after accepting your offer of admission, we cannot refund your acceptance fees or the housing deposit if you have a housing contract…
Let me guess-there is no actual offer decline function on MyPennState?
Does anyone know if a 2+2 offer requires a certain GPA before transferring to the main campus? The offer makes it sound automatic but that seems unlikely. The more likely scenario is that Penn State just hasn’t been clear about their expections or conditions. Offer letter just says “no need to re-apply.”
Not that the application process hasn’t been delightful, or anything.
@Provincetown It’s a minimum of a 2.0. So not high. Anything under a 2.0 is not making academic progress, so basically, you just need to be making academic progress (over 2.0) to proceed up to main campus after 2 years. Some majors can go up earlier if the classes they need are not available. My son did this, went up after a year - and regrets every second of it. He should have stayed at Altoona that extra year. He was not ready for UP. Just some food for thought for those trying to get out of the 2+2. Sometimes Penn State has it right on whether the rigor will be too much to start at UP.
For everyone else still waiting - hats off to you. You should not still be waiting. Good luck to everyone!
Portal working now, error fixed. Still “under review”
Omg ?
@Provincetown To add to what @jlhpsu said: Certain majors require a higher “entrance to major” GPA, some as high as 3.5 (finance). However, that is no different for branch campus students than for students starting at UP.
What torture…still since midnight the Page still reads that they are updating our application record. ?
@provincetown @kidzncatz makes a good secondary point. I was talking about overall generally moving to UP campus. For that, you need a 2.0. To get into the major you want however, that likely has different requirements. In order to be able to get into the major you want for start of junior year, you would be working on the entry to major requirements at the commonwealth campus (same requirements that the students at UP have to complete for entry) and those often include a higher GPA than a 2.0. But if you don’t have the requirements, you can still go to UP, just not in that major. So, minimum to go to UP - 2.0…Minimum to get into your major - depends on the major (and some ARE 2.0 also).
Descision finally posted folks. They are unable to place at UP and sent us back to the Commonwealth campus. It’s been a ride and we’re moving on. Good luck to all who are waiting.
@spqr70nj Sorry to hear that. Hopefully he still likes WVU and their great scholarship offer, or has other schools he is excited about.
Thanks @kidzncatz ! Yes, he still loves the school. I told him with his strong academics he could really take advantage of that program. Plus he was admitted to the Honors College. He also still has options with Va Tech (in 2 weeks), Syracuse, Rensselaer and NYU.
@spqr70nj : I’m sorry it didn’t work out. It wasn’t meant to be I guess - Penn State’s loss. But WVU+honors+scholarship is awesome.
